My Daybook . . .

Outside my window . . .  This is what it looked outside my window a few nights ago... I'm ready for spring.  Today the wind is blowing and the snow is drifting over the roads and in the yard, I'm kinda done with winter :0(  I just need to remember that we need the snow so badly, and I know I will appreciate it in the summer when everything is green and beautiful.  Plus, I know that I will complain about the heat and wish it was cooler.

On my playlist . . .

I've been deep cleaning my kitchen, so I've had Alexa playing old country music to keep me going.  It seems like every song that played had a memory attached to it.  Not necessarily about old crushes, but about things from my past, good things and sometimes not so good.  Isn't it funny how music can bring back all of those feelings and memories that we had completely forgotten about?  It has been fun to drift down memory lane while working and keeping busy.

What I'm thinking . . . I'm thinking about how fun we had at my grandson's, birthday.  Nathan turned 12 on March 1st, and is the first of many birthdays this month.  We had dinner with them, of course, one of his choosing.  We had biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs and homemade sourdough biscuits (they were delicious!!), birthday cake and rice pudding, another one of his favorites, with ice cream.  I made the birthday cake, and my daughter made the rice pudding, so yummy!  After dinner we played a game called, What do you Meme, for families.  It was really fun, if you have older children or grandchildren it's a hoot!

I would love to know what he is thinking in this photo!  And, I would love to know what his brother is thinking!

Nathan loves magic, and so this gift was one of his favorites.

What I'm thankful for . . . I'm thankful for good health.  I'm feeling so much better after my surgery.  I have more energy, I am off of several medications, my feet don't hurt, and I've lost a few pounds...these are all side benefits.  The biggest and best benefit is that I no longer have stomach problems, and no more heartburn!

Something I love . . . I bought new computer/reading glasses, and I love them!  My glasses with the bifocal in them just don't work good when I am reading or working on the computer . . . I'm alway tipping my head up, and it's uncomfortable.  These are kinda big, which I love, but they are really comfortable and easy to wear.  Here is the link if you are interested.  They're called, ZXYOO 3 pack, oversize square reading glasses from Amazon.  You get 3 pair of glasses in the pack, or 4 pair, which ever works for you.  I have one in each room that I need them.

I'm wearing . . . My big fluffy house coat and my fluffy slippers.  Did I mention it's really cold and snowy outside?  I'll change into my mom uniform soon, sweats a t-shirt and warm socks.  After all, it's a stay-at-home kind of day.

Creating . . . I haven't really got any projects going right now.  Although, I am creating a few messes as I deep clean my kitchen.  My daughter told me that she loves the hot pads I made her, so I'll probably get into my yarn stash and make her a few more.

In the kitchen . .. Well, besides cleaning, which I will finish up today, I plan on making a ground turkey meatloaf in muffin tins for dinner.  I just make my favorite meatloaf recipe, put the mix in muffin tins, that I have sprayed with cooking spray,  and bake at 375 degrees for about 15 to 20 minutes.  I love the little individual portions.  Not only do they cook fast, they freeze beautifully.

I plan on making a meal plan soon.  I find that I actually save money when I have a meal plan, because when I go grocery shopping, I just get what I need, not what sounds good at the moment.  I'll post it when I get it done.  I like seeing other peoples menu ideas, so maybe I can inspire you in some way too!

Just sayin' . . . From my Irish roots . . .

Have a wonderful week-end!  Be safe XOXO

Hugs and Love,
Barb

Just as I predicted, that's the very weather I am having now. I, too, am sick.of.it. Is this grand the youngest? He is very cute...great smile.

I also have those glasses as recommended by Linda Vater. I look like the dickens wearing them, but they really do work.

What a good report you've given. So glad that you are feeling so much better!

Your snowy picture made me gasp! Looks like a blizzard. I've lived on the west coast my whole life and even though we occasionally get snow, it's never anything like that! Brrr!

What Do You Meme! We love that game! My daughter bought the Family Edition for my granddaughter so the following year I bought her a new pack of cards. I didn't realize they weren't the Family Edition and we all gasped when Ally opened them! Ooops. So... I ended up going through all our family photos and made my own! (The picture of your two grandsons is a perfect example.) I printed them out and taped them to cardstock. They fit perfectly in the old Meme box and she wasn't thrilled when she opened it. My daughters both yelled, "Mom! You already gave those to her and they're the wrong ones!" I reassured them it was the "Family Edition." The first picture was of Ally when she was a baby, I think she was sticking out her tongue. I have pictures of every family member, close friends and even pets! Now that game has truly become a family favorite!

Hi Barb! It's always great to hear from you. So glad that you are feeling better. Those reading glasses sound great and look good on you. I also have bifocals, but when I read a book, I take them off and just hold the book close. I love the pictures of your grandson's birthday celebration. We have lots of March birthdays in our family too. I have a grandson who will be turning 13 in a few days. I need to get his birthday present in the mail. It has been cold, windy and gray here with more snow in the forecast. Good to read about what is going on in your world. See you again soon!

As always, Barb, I love your daybook posts. : ) Yikes! It DOES seem like winter is just holding on, doesn't it. We're getting a bit more today into tomorrow too. I was thinking yesterday how I wish I was out pulling weeds in the gardens so you can tell I'm done with winter right now!! Music is powerful - I can always go back in time when I hear something. I'm SO glad you are feeling better!!!! And I love those glasses - I'm pretty sure that I'm going to have to look into those. : )You look great. Thanks again for your post. Have a wonderful day and upcoming week!!! Mary

A lovely post, Barb. What a fun party for your grandson. I'll have to look up that game - it's new to me.
We had our last (hopefully) snow last weekend and today the sun is shining.

Ok, Barb..... I wrote a long comment to you and then it disappeared into that space of no return. Instead of re-writing it, I will keep it sweet and sign off with a big hug from across the desert.
Love Marsha

Wow, that's a lot of snow. We've had some very windy days here, but no real snow this winter.
Never heard of the game--What Do You Meme. Will have to check it out.

I always love your day book entries Barb! Perfect little windows into your sweet life with all its hills and valleys. What a joy that you get to spend time with your grandchildren like that. The dinner of biscuits with gravy and scrambled eggs sounds fabulous! So does the rice pudding! The gams is one I will have to look up. I am so happy you are feeling much better now. Loving the side benefits! Way to go! I will have to look up those reading glasses. I have blended bi-focals but to be honest, I take my glasses off to read most of the time anyways. I do find however the print on jars/containers is getting far too small now! I loved this little catch up! Blessings, love and hugs to you! xoxo

celebrating grandkids birthdays are always extra special. happy birthday to Nathan.
I am hoping to get started on spring cleaning soon, just waiting for my ankle to completely heal.
Hope you get a break soon from all the snow, I am so ready for spring to come and stay, we had a taste a few weeks ago, but it didn't last long, no snow just wet and cold.
Have a great week, Blessings,
Sue

Hey Barb! You're looking super duper cute in your new glasses. I am the same, I saw those ones where they're clear on top and then readers on bottom though right now, that just doesn't work for me. I see them as useful, just not for me right now.

So cool that you got a new computer. A laptop is on our list to get. Did get new readers. Using them now and I LOVE them.

Looks like the 12th year celebration was a big hit. I love that.

I also love that you have more energy and your feet don't hurt. Win, win, win!

The last trip of the season . . .

Hello!  Well, it's been a week since we returned from the last camping trip of the season.  Can I just say that it's been a whirlw...
