Outside My Window . . . Today is a repeat of yesterday and it's gorgeous. Just a slight breeze, beautiful blue sky, and mild temperatures, the high today will be 74 degrees. Yesterday, Bob and I cleaned the yard and tried to get it ready for winter. I raked the leaves around the base of the trees and got them onto the lawn for mowing up. Bob Mowed and sprayed some weeds in the pasture. We moved the grow-bags and cleaned off the patio. I couldn't bear to pull up the flowers yet, they are still blooming and just loving the cooler temperatures. We also picked the grapes. This is the third year growing them and we get more and more each year. We did have to cover them this year to keep the birds out, but it was well worth it, they are delicious!

Simple Womans Daybook . . .
On My Playlist . . . This time of year always reminds me of hunting season. For years, Bob and I would go elk or deer hunting, and we'd always listen to, Ian Tyson as we drove to and from our favorite hunting spots. This is one of my favorite songs from this artist. . . enjoy . . .
What Am I Thinking . . . I am still struggling with food and the way it tastes and smells. Tonight I made sour cream enchiladas with chicken, I also put a can of pinto beans and a can of green chilis in with the chicken, hoping to cover up the chicken flavor. I could still taste the chicken and picked out as much as I could, but they still didn't taste good. I told my husband that I suppose I will have to become a vegetarian - I just can't handle meat eggs, onions or anything made with corn unless they are covered up with a strong flavored sauce, they just taste horrible to me. I have a doctor appointment later this month and I hope he can give me some ideas on how to deal with it. It's been almost a year since I had Covid!
I'm Thankful For . . . On Sunday, a friend of mine asked me if I wanted a huge Hubbard squash. Of course I said yes, I love winter squash. I was so grateful for her giving heart. My daughter grew a beautiful garden this summer and she kept me in zucchini, what a blessing friends and family are! I was also able to go pick apples from another friends tree, they're so sweet and delicious.
I'm Wearing . . . Right now, a house coat. I'm not wearing slippers, I like going barefoot.
Creativity . . . I'm trying to find something to crochet, I'd like to crochet a new throw for my bedroom. I just need to find a pattern and then choose a color - it's harder than I thought it would be. I like having something to work on during the cold winter months, so the hunt is on!
In The Kitchen . . . Chicken doesn't taste good, so I'm trying to embrace beef, and since I have a freezer full, I really need to try to eat it. I have a delicious recipe for, Korean Beef and Rice, and I had about 1/2 lb. of ground beef in the fridge, so I made it for dinner one night, it was delicious, beef and all. I had too much sauce, so I added about 2 cups of frozen broccoli to the meat mixture...it was really good. You can find the recipe HERE.

Hello! I love your last graphic. What a beautiful quote. Your photos are lovely, and sum up the feelings of autumn so perfectly. The beef looks amazing! Thank you for the recipe. Have a cozy evening. We may put a fire on tonight!
I am always awed by the corner of the world you call home! It is just so pretty...and how fun would it be to grow grapes! I often think I would enjoy growing things (food to eat) but when push comes to shove, I really do not enjoy the process much at all. Sigh. I really hope you can get some answers for your taste buds. I wonder what has been causing the change?? If all else fails, you can enjoy apple cake! We have been loving it here...and, yes, it was a huge hit at Bible study (just as I predicted!) Would you mind if I shared the recipe? Someone asked for it...but only if it is okay with you:)
Beautiful autumn images, Barb. I'm sorry for the lingering Covid symptoms. Having food taste off would become tiresome very quickly. I hope you can find some relief. The beef looks absolutely delicious!
Hi Barb! I always love your daybook posts. I think there are a LOT of us with long-COVID symptoms. It's been a year for me and I, too, have trouble with smell and taste. Strawberries taste awful and so does sour cream and yogurt (they also smell terrible too) and other foods as well. So frustrating because I love food! And it's made it a bit difficult to cook because when I taste as I go, it's hard to know whether or not certain dishes taste okay or not. If you get any answers and/or solutions, please pass them along!!! : )
Have a wonderful rest of the week - it looks like everything is still beautiful where you live - here everything has been affected by the hard frosts so I definitely need to pull a lot of things out this weekend. God bless!!!
Mary
Lovely photos. Sorry about the taste issues...doesn't sound pleasant.
