Treasured Christmas Memory . . .

It's been a hard week, and I am so thankful for, prayer, dear friends,  and precious family who love us...thank you, all of you, for your prayers and love.

It seems that it's getting harder and harder to catch the sunset - wading through the snow and all... ;0)  But, I waded out in it...in my slippers...yes, my slippers, to get this shot.  So pretty, thank you, Mother Nature!!

The other day my daughter was here helping me put up my tree and get me decorated for Christmas.  I was telling her about some of the old ornaments that we found in a bin that was tucked away in the closet, some of the ornaments were my mothers,  that I remembered as a child, others were ornaments that I inherited from my step-father, they are very old.  Then I opened a box that I had forgotten about - wow, did the Christmas memories just come flooding back . . .

We were poor, like most married couples the first few years they are married, but we made it - you know what they say about living on love.  I remember just wanting something new to hang on our tree to make it a little more festive and pretty.  One day I was shopping, and I found a cute little kit to make three little felt Christmas tree ornaments.  It was on clearance so I bought it, not even knowing if I could get them made before Christmas, but I got them done on Christmas Eve.  They were so cute, and I my oldest daughter just loved them.  She was about 4 years old at the time, she's now 42.  I had almost forgotten about them until I opened up that box of ornaments and there they were, right on top...I was so happy!

They're a little ragged around the edges, from lots of little fingers touching them, hugging them and helping to put them in just the right spot on the tree, but they are absolutely precious to me...my Christmas treasures.  I hope they will be treasured for many years to come...

Hugs and Love,

Barb

Yay!! You got your tree up and decorated!
Don't you just love how the ornaments bring back memories and your darling handmade ones are just so special.
I still have the ones my kids made for me as well as the original ones we had when we were young and struggling. I don't use them on my big tree like I used to, but I do put them on a smaller tree. I love opening the box and taking the trip down memory lane.
I'm so thankful for answered prayers, I'll sure continue to pray for your friends family.
Have a wonderful Sabbath and great week Barb.
Stay warm!!

That is one beautiful sunset...Im so glad you caught it!
The first thing I put on our tree every year is Sammy Snowman made by my daughter 20 years ago when she was 4. Hes made of cotton balls on a empty cardboard toilet roll. Of all the ornaments he is the most precious
Continued prayers and Im so happy that they are being answered
Have a wonderful week

I love little stories like this.....such memories for you and I can so relate. Those hard times, make the simple things just that much more special. Big thanks to you for the gorgeous sunset picture...it's even prettier in knowing that you went out in your slippers to capture such a gorgeous view. I'm loving that snow and the fence!! Snow came within in a hundred miles of us this past week....but passed us up. :(

I've thought a lot about you and your family this past week. I hope that you feel comfort. Such a hard thing to go through especially this time of year.

I love your sunset. Idaho does put on some amazing shows.

The story of your ornaments is adorable. I'm so glad you still have them. I lost a box of old things in our move.

I hope you have a wonderful week.
Prayers continue.

Barb,
You always seem to catch the beautiful moments from the sky....and slippers are good. I think I live in mine.
Sorry for the hard week you've had to endure. I pray for you and your family, that with time and the help of the Lord, you will be able to heal. Losing a loved one in the family is very difficult but knowing what we know makes our journey a bit brighter.
Your ornaments, those precious ornament memories. What a treasure you found in that box.
Take care, my friend - Marsha
