My weekly thoughts . . .

FOR TODAY September 25, 2012

Outside my window... It's very dark outside, the wind is just barely blowing, and it's definitely cooler tonight than last night.  Today was just a beautiful Autumn day, partly cloudy skies, warm and lots of changing colors to look at!

I am thinking... How nice it will be to get in bed and cuddle up with a good book.

I am thankful for... Prayer . . .

A favorite quote...

"If you're in a bad situation, don't worry it'll change.
If you're in a good situation, don't worry it'll change. "
~John A. Simone, Sr.~

From the kitchen...

One of my favorite recipes - this one is for LeAnn.

Yummy Hot Sandwiches

Any good home-style roll from the grocery store
Slice the rolls and put the bottom half into a 9x13 pan
Put 2 slices of your favorite deli sliced meat on each roll - ham, turkey, beef . . .mix and match, it's all good!
Then put your favorite cheese on top of the meat - Cheddar,  Swiss, Pepper Jack . . . be creative!
Put the top back on each roll.

Mix together:
1 cube butter
1 1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp. dried onion flakes or 1 Tbls. grated fresh onion
1 1/2 Tbls. poppy seeds
1 1/2 Tbls. prepared mustard - yellow, Dijon, spicy . . . whatever you like

Melt this mixture and pour over the rolls.  Refrigerate overnight or at least 2 hours (Sometimes I just make them and bake them... ;0))  But, they are better if they sit for a bit.  Cook on 275 degrees, covered with tin foil for 25 minutes.  Take the tin off and bake for 5 more minutes - enjoy, these are delicious!

I am wearing... Black jeans, a green/khaki shirt, barefoot (I try to extend the barefoot thing as long as I possible can!).

I am creating... I have been crocheting dishcloth's/napkins with a bag of beautiful cotton yarn that someone so generously gave me.  There were lots of little ends and pieces so they are all different!  I am trying to cut down on the paper products I use, so I thought I would make lots of these and keep them in a basket  near my table to use as napkins . . . and keep some for dishclothes.  I will post the pattern soon - it's so simple!

I am going... Bob and I are going to babysit my wonderful little grands on Thursday, and stay until Saturday!  We are going to go to their house . . . babies sleep much better in their own beds... :0)

I am reading... A wonderful book called, "Wicked Autumn", by G.M. Malleit.  He is an, Agatha Award-Winning Author.   It's just the funnest little mystery, with lots of dry humor!

I am hoping... That Brody, my grandson,  does well with his dental surgery tomorrow.  He has some extra teeth that have to be removed - please keep this little guy in your prayers.

I am hearing... Soft music from my computer, and an occasional spud truck passing by.  It's potato harvest here in Idaho!

Around the house... We will be gone all day tomorrow, working at the Humanitarian Center, so no housework here!

One of my favorite things...  Our little Clara is finally walking!  She has been a finger-holder for so long, but she finally decided that she would take a chance and go it on her own - very cute!!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Tomorrow - Humanitarian Center
Thursday - off to babysit
Friday - playtime for most of the day, pizza with Chris and Diana that night!
Saturday - More playtime and lots of rest!
Sunday - Church

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

Aww Clara is striking out. What a cutie pie. I'm sure that Brody's family has some special things planned for him post-surgery...something fun to look forward to. God bless him and the surgery that it'll go smoothly and that he'll heal up quickly.

I do the barefoot thing, too. I think I should quit, though. Talk about cold feet!

Enjoy your autumn days...

Hey Barb!

My youngest son had some extra teeth removed yesterday. He was so nervous, he was shivering! He did really well though, and got to eat plenty of ice cream which made him happy.

I hope you get to walk barefoot a little longer. Fall is enjoyable most with bare feet! Have a blessed week.

I always do the barefoot thing. It was my mother's and my 2nd mother's (my older sister) nightmare. I still do it and I still wear Levi's. I'm hoping that somebody will bury me in Levi's but that may not happen. :) And October? Yes. How well I remember spud vacations. Do they still have them? And now the next question....do the kids still work at it?

Hi Barb! Oh those sandwiches sound good! I've never thought of baking them before, I must try this. Your crocheted goodies are so pretty and will come in very handy!
I'll say a prayer for Brody, hope all goes well for him.
Little Clara is a doll! Have fun babysitting this week and enjoy the beautiful fall days!

Have a great week. It's been foggy in the mornings here and we get sun in the afternoon on and off. I've had the windows open because it warms up in the afternoon. Linda

I love talking with you. I loved your quotes today and had to copy them. Little Clara is so adorable. That last picture is priceless and you need to frame it.
