I'm Feeling kind of Blue . . .

No, I'm not depressed or sad, I just feel like I need a change of color in my home...I'm thinking blue!

I have had this green color on my dining room wall for years.  It's only on one wall, but it's a wall you can see from several other rooms in the house...I'm ready for a change.  When I added the border, many years ago, I loved it, but now, it's faded and isn't nearly as pretty as it was when I put it up, it needs to go as well.

I'm thinking of, Amsterdam, a Benjamin Moore color (I don't get paid by them, I just like the color).  It's warm enough that it won't feel cold, and neutral enough that it will match most everything in my dining room, kitchen and living room.  Looking at both colors on the computer, they look a little bolder and darker than they really are, but I think I will like the change.

My mother didn't like the color blue, but she always told me that it was my best color, so she always dressed me in blue.  When I was a little girl, I had a dream that I got a pair of shiny blue, patent leather shoes for my birthday.  When I woke up I ran to the closet to find them...they weren't there.  My mother felt so bad for me, that she bought me a pair of, blue, patent leather shoes for my birthday a few months later!

Sometimes we just need a simple change of color to change the whole mood of the room.  And sometimes, we just need to remember a sweet memory to make us feel good!

What are your favorite colors for  a room?

Be safe XOXO

Hugs and Love,
Barb

Time heals but praying really helps.

Barb, what a pretty blue! Looks almost like a slate blue! I usually like neutrals on the walls. In our old NJ house, we had white walls with blueberry blue baseboards and inside window sill/frames. Also our steps upstairs were wood on the step part but the painted front part was alternate white and blueberry. XOXO

That is a pretty color, course, I also love the green so I’m no help. It is true that sometimes we just need a little change. If you’ve got the energy, I say go for it.

My favorite color is yellow, so my sewing room is yellow with white wainscoting but for the main color of our walls are a very light neutral cream or tan. We have white doors and baseboards. I think its grand that you want to switch things up and go blue! Its fun to do something different and heck, it's only paint right! Have fun and let us know how it goes! I can't wait to see what you do!!!

Barb, I apologize if the comment seems odd, because it does, now that the pictures and the rest of your post is up.
All that was posted was the title!!!

That is a pretty blue. Looking forward to seeing your changes :)

We have renovated so many houses... I think we've tried out about every color in the color fan...LOL!
We are loving a chalky white right now. Soft and neutral and peaceful feeling.

Have a happy day!

I always enjoy changing up rooms and painting :-) Though I wish my budget was better, lol. Your room is lovely as it is though! I use yellow in my kitchen because it always makes me happy and brightens everything up. I hope you are having a great week!

Blessings,
Jill

Barb...I love your green wall but I'm sure if you change it to blue, it will look just as appealing. You seem to have a great eye for decorating. Unlike myself, every room is white so my modgepodge of misfits fit in anywhere - ha!

Barb,
Thanks for your kind comments and great advice on my post!
We hear from friends that are retired, that we need to have a plan, so we do have a plan.
We used to have a motor home, and we've had travel trailers over the years, but have been without a trailer for about 4 yrs. now.
We do not want to beat our trailer to death on the rocky roads and fill it with road dirt, so we are wanting to travel on paved roads this time around. Yellowstone, the coast, etc.
I love your advice about carving out some personal time and I agree that will be important to us.
We are in the Sanpete valley and are so, so , so done with snow and ice and below zero temps for weeks on end, thus our plan to move to the St. George area. It is daunting... changing everything we know, but also there is a spark of adventure and we think we have one more big adventure left in our old bones... **smile**.
Thank you again for taking the time to 'chat' with me :)

Two years ago my older son came over and painted one wall of my living room a pale blue. The other walls remain off white, and the effect is very nice. Your blue wall will be a good change. And what cute shoes and what a good mom to fulfill your dream.

I loved your sweet memory of your mom Barb. Mom's know the best things to do to cheer our hearts, and I think our memories do the same. Grateful for happy memories. I remember one time, I was about 10, and my father was taking photos of my brother and sister and for some reason would not let me be in the photo. I was devastated. I must have been naughty or something, but my mom took me into the kitchen and took my picture in front of the kitchen sink. She wanted to make it better and I remember her being so sweet and so kind to me. My heart breaks at the thought, but is early days yet. I would love to paint our house. Maybe one day. Love you my sweet friend. Thanks for your prayers and for being so loyal and faithful. xoxo

I love that blue color. My Mom painted her bedroom a very similar color and it looks great. It's both fresh and invigorating and soothing all at the same time!

The blue looks beautiful! And you're right, a small thing like new paint color can do wonders for us! My living room has one wall with a blue / gray color and I love it! I've decorated the room with antiques and collectables and the color compliments just about everything. I can't wait to see your finished room!
