Over the Week-end . . .

In Idaho we get a lot of wind...not just an occasional wind storm, but really bad wind storms.  And sometimes, we get a bad thunder storm with them, but nothing like we had over the week-end.  I had just gotten home from my sweet mom's 90th birthday party, and a warning came up on my phone.  I turned on the TV, and it said it was a tornado warning!  I went and looked outside, and this is what I saw . . .

this was a scary storm!  I know that compared to what they get in the Midwest this is nothing, but it was scary for Idaho.

This was a fast moving storm and I could see that it was moving quickly towards my daughters home!

I could see the clouds dipping down and I was truly afraid that there really would be a tornado.  We have had occasional tornado's  here, but this one seemed different.  It also had that rolling thunder and continuous lightning...really scary.

I called my daughter and she said that they had been in town and were on their way home when the hail started.  They were forced to stop along the road because the hail was just pummeling their car...with golf sized hail!  She sent me a video...she was screaming that she thought they were going to die (she's very dramatic... ;0)  ), it was very scary!  They quickly headed home as soon as the hail quit.

This is what they came home to.  All of their vehicles were damaged, as well as the siding on their home, depending on the way it faced.  This photo is the South facing wall of their neighbors house, and it really got the brunt of the storm.  My daughters home wasn't this bad, but will still need to have most of the siding replaced, and the roof repaired.  She said that the whole neighborhood looked like someone had come through with a machine gun.  Right in the middle of town, 50 Snow Geese were killed by the lightning.

By evening, the storm had cleared off, and we had a beautiful sunset!

“No storm can last forever. It will never rain 365 days consecutively. Keep in mind that trouble comes to pass, not to stay. Don't worry! No storm, not even the one in your life, can last forever.”

Have a wonderful week, and stay safe!

Happy Belated Birthday wishes to your mom. I'm sure she is a lady with great wisdom. Oh Barb...I know that the storms were very scary for all of you. Thankful that your daughters home was not completely damaged. Glad you all were safe. We had a storm like that come through our area about this time last year. I think every home in our small town had Hail damage. I'm so thankful for insurance. Although the storm was alarming for all of you, it sure made for some gorgeous photos. these are outstanding. Please feel free to share my post today. big hugs..

Oh my how utterly, utterly frightening Barb! I have been living in several areas when Tornadoes hit Barb and they are very scary things. The damage that the hail did is astonishing. I hope the insurance covers it. Loved all of your photos, although very foreboding looking, they are beautiful. Glad that you were alright, safe and sound. Love and hugs to you. always. xoxo

Wow, my sweet friend, you got some great shots of the storm coming in. I was so surprised when I heard aobut all the damage to our children's home. That size of hail is really scary. I suppose this could be another sign of the times. It seems like we are all having strange weather. I'm just happy they were all safe and had no physical injuries.
I love your sunset photo at th end. You do get the best of shots; I love them.
Sending warm loving thoughts and big hugs your way to you dear friends!
