One Month Later . . .

"They are not dead who live in the hearts they leave behind."
~Tuscarora~

It's hard to believe that it has really been a month since my last post . . . so much has happened.

We lost a very dear friend this month. He was more than a friend, he was a brother,  a mentor, and a confidant when you needed a listening ear, and just a walk across the street away.  Always a tease! Trust me, you never turned your back to him . . . or he would get you!  We spent some of our happiest moments with this wonderful man, his dear wife and amazing son and daughter-in-law . . . our family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  I will miss his smile, his laugh, and his presence . . . he was a larger than life man and we loved him.   We miss you, Shane "Wayne".

Shane and his son, Mike, doing what he loved most.

Bob, Mike and Shane, on the Salmon River.

Camping . . . aka chicken hunting!

Bob and Shane, gabbing.  They loved to gab.

Cole dog and Shane's beloved, Belle Dog . . . she misses him too.

This is a beautiful song, written by, President Gordon B. Hinkley.

What is This Thing that Men Call Death
What is this thing that men call death?
This quiet passing in the night?
‘Tis not the end but genesis
Of better worlds and greater light

O God, touch Thou my aching heart,
And calm my troubled, haunting fears
Let hope and faith, transcendent, pure
Give strength and peace beyond my tears.

There is no death, but only change,
With recompense for vict’ry won
The gift of Him who loved all men.
The Son of God, the Holy one.

. . . Why should I be out of mind, because I am out of sight?  I am but waiting for you, for an interval.  Somewhere.  Very near. Just around the corner.  All is well.

Until we meet again, sweet friend . . .

XOXO,
Barb

Dearest Barb,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your very dear friend.
Grief is heart wrenching.
May his soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.
Prayers for you, Barb.

How the heart aches when these goodbyes are said. I don't agree with Dylan; memories are precious and can never be taken. Your friend sounds like a special one and I am sorry for the loss.

What a sweet tribute to a good friend. I know how hard it is to lose someone you love like this. Really enjoyed the photos of him and the fun times.
We too just lost a good friend from Spokane. He was our Bishop and I served with him when I was RS President. He was also our home teacher and they were both treasured friends. We shed some tears on this one. His name was Ron Schlerf. James will remember him well. Love and hugs for you dear friend. I have missed your blogging. Big Hugs for you both~
