Remembering 9/11 . . .

I just have to say how proud and grateful I am to all the men and women who serve and have served our fine country so honorably, and who fearlessly protect my freedoms. Not only in the armed forces, but also the fire fighters and police officers who so bravely protect me each day.  This is a date I will never forget.

My daughter works in a school, and this afternoon, she posted a story that was very touching. She said that one of the students in her school, told her that the man in the middle of this picture was her uncle, that he was a fire fighter.  Her grandfather, who was in the Pentagon at this same time, was also a fire fighter.  The student, told her of the reaction of her aunt and her grandmother, and how traumatic it was for them, her grandmother actually had a heart attack.  Not only did this brave man help save lives that day, he did it with a broken neck, from falling out of a bucket onto bricks and rubbish at the bottom of a building.  He  didn't find out about his neck until after he had worked endless hours helping others.  My daughter said that she didn't realize until today, the terrible impact of this terrifying and violent act, until she talked to someone who actually had family there, and who lived it.  What a courageous man, I don't think we can ever thank these brave men and women enough. They are in my prayers today, and always.

What a endearing post! I loved that tender story. We need to hear of poignant moments like these more often so that we never ever forget the sacrifices made by so many. How we need to pray for and be grateful for all those that do serve us now in the armed forces, police officers and firemen. None of who get paid enough for what they do for us all. I have such deep gratitude for this great nation and pray that someway we can be strong and fight against the evil that abounds. sending big hugs your way dear friend.
