A much needed break . . .

We finally got away last week!  I can't even tell you how much we needed this break! I don't think there is anything better than to get away from the hustle and bustle of our busy world.  The only problem was - it wasn't long enough!

We have driven past this little cabin for the last 37 years, and I have never taken a picture of it, so I finally got my picture.  I remember my husbands grandmother took a picture of this same little cabin, and she painted a picture of it - it was beautiful.  She wasn't really an artist, but I thought the picture was so pretty - I've always wondered what happened to it?

We finally made it to our destination - one of my favorite spots!  I am so amazed how green it is in the hills this year,  usually by this time of year, it is very dry.  This is the view from my front step.  The sky was truly brilliant blue!

Here we are, all tucked in under the trees! We had shade all day long, it was very peaceful!

While my husband took a nap, me and Cole played Frisbee!  I don't think he ever gets tired of playing!
In the evening, we would go and check out the landscape - it was so beautiful, of course I'm kind of partial to sagebrush, I think it's so pretty, and I really do love the way it smells . . . I know, I'm a little strange!  But you are never too far from the pine trees and Quaking Aspen.
One night we ran across this cute little Sharptail Grouse, who just refused to move out of the road - she must have had some babies lurking around!  I'm so glad she let me take her picture!
This is where we were headed!  I love to see the Grand Tetons from the Idaho side!  I never get tired of taking their picture.
I think this little cabin is so cute, I just had to take a picture of it!  It's been there for many, many years! It's quite a ways off the road, so nobody ever bothers it.
We had a few cloudy days , but only a small rain shower - I  thought the clouds were so pretty!

I love Idaho sunsets!
This night, there had been a fire in the valley, so the sunset was extra pretty!  In fact, my camera wouldn't even capture the bright pink in this sunset!
At night, after the sun set, we would have these amazing lavender skies.

We were so lucky to be there when there was a full moon, it was absolutely beautiful!

I took this picture just as it was peeking through the trees!

At night we would build a big fire . . . after all, what is camping without a fire . . . and lots of smoke!

My husband checking out the night sky!  See that full moon in the background?

Time to go home . . . until next time.

Wow, Barb. What a nice getaway. I'm like you - I like to get away to a nice quiet place. You guys had a beautiful setting to just sit and "be". Nice photos, too. We haven't been camping in such a long time. Makes me wanna go again! And I love your Idaho sunsets, too!

I don't know why, but this post made me cry....I am a baby I know. I LOVE the picture of the little hidden cabin. THAT IS HEAVEN, away from life and is your our little piece of heaven! ALL of the pictures were beautiful, I loved the sunset, and the moon! I am glad you are back though!!!

Your pictures are beautiful. So nice that you got out for a while. I'd love to get back down to your area and so some exploring. The sunsets have been particularly lovely this year and the moon was glorious those nights, wasn't it? I can tell autumn is on the way. The sun is setting much further to the south now. Sigh.

Now if I could find such pretty, solitude spots to camp I would. Here it just seems everyone camps in a big parking lot. Vacations never seem long enough. Clarice

So glad you could get away. Loved going on your trip with you via your wonderful pictures. Doesn't it make you wonder who lived in those cabins and what they did, what their life was like, why they left them, etc. If only those old homesteads could speak what tales they could tell. I love the sunset and moon pictures. Don't think there is anything better than sitting around a campfire. It's true vacations never seem long enough but thank goodness for pictures and memories. Morning Barb. It really does feel good to get away sometimes...Glad you were able to do so.
Makes you think about all the stories an old house would have to tell!!
Every single picture is gorgeous...I especially like the one of the moon shot between the trees...
Hope your day is filled with joy.

Now that looks like a wonderful getaway. Do you think that you might try painting a picture of the cabin, too? It doesn't look as if it can make it through too many more years. What wonderful pictures...my favorite is the framed moon shot. Just fantastic!

That looks soooo peaceful and relaxing! It sounds like you had a really nice trip, just the two of you, how fun! I especially love your picture of the old cabin that Bob's grandmother painted... I just love those old cabins, -- always food for thought, wondering who lived there and what their life might have been like. Thanks for sharing.
