Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY -  November 30, 2010

Outside my window... Right now, it's misty outside and looks like it might snow.  It's cold, very cold, the last time I checked the thermometer it was about 17 degrees.......brrrrrrr!  We have over a foot of snow on the ground and more to come this week.  I love the change of seasons here in Idaho, even the snow and slick roads don't really bother me, I love that everything looks so clean and fresh when the snow falls . . . it's almost magical.

I am thinking... That I should never, never monkey with the, HTML settings on blogger!!  It's a long story, and a boring one - just take it from me - don't touch them unless you save your settings first!

I am thankful for... A warm bed, slippers, a  fuzzy pink housecoat, a hot cup of cinnamon tea, and popcorn!

From the learning rooms...

I learned that,  I do live in a marshmallow world!

And, that my life has gone to the dogs!  I babysat my daughter's miniature Dachshunds over the week-end.  Cole was so sad that he couldn't nap on the couch (he's way too big to get on the furniture!), so he would just lay his head between Bandit and Scout, and dream that he was small!  So sad...:0(  He is getting extra attention today.

I took this picture of the "sun-dogs" the other day - so pretty!

From the kitchen... I am thinking about making cookies and freezing them for Christmas.  I also have frozen zucchini that I need to use, so, maybe I'll make  some zucchini bread and pumpkin bread while I have the oven hot!

I am wearing... Well, because I'm kind of lazy, and it's so cold . . . I'm still in my PJ's and wearing my fuzzy pink housecoat!

I am going... To take down my harvest decorations and do some cleaning to get ready for Christmas decorating. I don't do a lot of decorating, mostly things that I have had for a long time, things that are dear to me and that I love.

I am reading... A book called, "She Who Remembers".  It's kind of an unusual book that I've had for a long time, but never finished.

I am hoping... That as I listen to Christmas music and clean my house, I can catch more of the "Christmas Spirit".   I'm pretty much done with my Christmas shopping, so I am trying to  savor the wonderful feeling that Christmas brings by making it happen - after all, it's up to me!

I am hearing... The soft hum of my computer, the furnace keeping my feet warm, and Christmas music . . . Bing Crosby singing, Jingle Bells!

Around the house... I have a little ironing I need to finish.  The normal things, vacuuming, the bed needs to be made, a batch of laundry is waiting for me to fold it and put it away.

One of my favorite things... A warm fire in the fireplace . . .  :0)

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Today - Get my cleaning done, maybe a little baking.
Tomorrow - Not sure yet!
Thursday - Ditto!
Friday - Weight Watchers.
Saturday - Start my decorating.
Sunday - Church.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

"I heard the bells on Christmas Day
Their old familiar carols play.
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of Peace on earth, good will to men."

~Henry W. Longfellow~

Have a wonderful day, filled with lots of peace and love . . .

Hi Barb!

Loved the photos. The sun dogs and the real dogs are special. I always enjoy reading your daybook, I keep thinking I'll do one sometime.

You have so much snow already! I'm hoping for a mild winter here! I just don't do winters very well. Guess it comes from having my ankle badly broken when I fell on ice many years ago. Or maybe I'm just a big chicken! :D

What kind of cookies will you be making for Christmas? The zucchini bread sounds good.

Take care and have a great Wednesday!

Hugs,
Cheryl

Your sweet puppy looks sooo sad. Bless his heart! He must have enjoyed the puppy company though.

Zucchini bread sounds so good. I did make some pumpkin bread over Thanksgiving but it is all gone.

Happy December to you!

Barb, this post warmed my heart. I just love the snow too; but as of right now it is starting to melt; so things don't look like pure white snow today. I always just feel warm when I read your thoughts; they bring back memories. Is there more to the story about the dogs. We get such a kick out of Amber's dogs and when they get with ours; it is hilarious.
Hope you were able to complete all of your goals for the week. I need to set some for this week. I have two lucheons for DUP on Mon and Tues and then an Activity Day Christmas party on Wednesday; so this is going to be a busy week for me. I really would like to just sit by the fire and Christmas tree and read a good book.
Love and hugs to you! LeAnn
