I was cleaning out my hutch this morning and came across this cute set of dishes that were Bob's when he was a little boy. Bob was truly a little cowboy! He and his brother stayed in the hills to herd sheep and cows when he was only 8 years old and Bruce was only 10 years old. They stayed in a sheep camp, cooked their own meals and basically took care of themselves. Their parents would come up on week-ends and make sure that they were alright and bring them groceries. Such treasures from the past!!
Bob's mother gave these dishes to me years ago, but did not tell me anything about them. I don't know if he got them as a gift, or if his parents bought them for him. I don't even know if he ever used them. I guess I need to find out the story from her while she is still living. They are so cute, but they have been tucked away, out of sight, for too long. I would love to display them, but I'm not even sure how to do that. I would be so afraid that they would get broken.
Is'nt is funny how we have a tendency to take precious things and tuck them away where no one can see them, because we don't want them to get broken? I think we even do that with memories - memories that we cherish and don't want to share because we are afraid they will get broken! This is one reason that I started a journal blog, so that I could maybe take some of those old memories that have been tucked away for safe keeping, and share them with those who are willing to read, and maybe enjoy them and cherish them a second time around. I'll let you know the story behind the dishes, and hopefully you can see them displayed in my home for everyone to see and enjoy.
P.S. The first song on the playlist is one of Caleb's favorite! Thought it went cute with the dishes.
