Memory Lane . . .

My love for music started young, probably in the womb!  My father loved music, especially country music...anyone remember, Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys?  I still love to listen to them; I can still hear my father singing with them, and he would sing...ahhhh haaaa at the end of every song.  We would lay in bed at night and listen to my mom and dad as they listened to the stereo with their friends, it was like a lullaby.

I remember the radio on in the morning when I woke up.  I  loved waking up in the morning to the smell of fresh brewed coffee and the radio.  Sometimes it was the morning weather report, but this is a song that I remember for some reason...It's still on my playlist of favorites.

And who doesn't love, Ray Price?  Another favorite of mine . . . and my fathers.

As we grew up, so did the music.  I remember watching, Hee Haw, as I was growing up, and my dad really loved, Roy Clark.  I still think he was one of the best guitar players ever.  I can also identify with this song...Yesterday, when I was Young.

Charlie Pride, my dad loved to listen to him sing...he had a voice like velvet!

There's so much more that I could share with you, but I don't think I have room!  This is just a drop in the bucket, but it is exactly why I have music on my blog,  I can't do anything without music playing in the background.  I have a friend who says she never listens to music...I'm so sorry for her, she is missing out on the good things in life.

I'll share more as it comes to me, I love walking down memory lane.  and because I do most of my blogging at night, I'll just leave you with this beautiful song.

Hugs and Love,

Barb

This was such a fun post. I loved learning about your Dad and the music in your home. I remember a few of these songs and I love old time country music. Christian certainly has a natural talent for the guitar. I the videos he does; amazing.
My Dad and Mom used to sing all the time when we were on drives. They liked to have music going and my favorite memories of my Dad grabing my mom for a dance and then often times me too.
Music is such a gift in our lives. It's actually suppose to be great therapy for dementia. If you play the persons era of music they often respond in intersting ways.
You can tell I loved reading your thoughts today as always. Your posts are always so fun.
Sending loving thoughts, hugs your way! Love you much~

You and I love the same music Barb! NO SURPRISE THERE! Todd also loves it. I got him a box set of Jim Reeves for his birthday last year. Its so good. My parents also listened to the same music. I cannot imagine anyone not loving music! I have always loved it and surround myself with it, like you! It has embroidered all the days of my life! Thanks for a beautiful post and all the memories! Love and hugs! xoxo

We could have a very companionable time walking Memory Lane. The radio was not on first thing in the morning at my parents’ home, but it was at my grandparents.’ My mother often played her albums and usually on Saturdays while we did housework. I still like music when I am cleaning. Jim Reeves had such a smooth voice...I remember a lot of his music and was very sad when he died in that plane crash at only 40 years of age. Oh the music we missed out on!

What would we ever do without music?! I can't sing, play the piano very well, or play a musical instrument, but I sure love my music. I'm a hummer. I hum all the time, literally. And you mentioned Charlie Pride....one of the best. Love older music.
Thanks for the fun post.
Take care, my friend - Marsha

I can't imagine not listening to music! I love it and enjoy different types. I'm not familiar with these artists, except hearing about Roy Clark but they were nice to listen too :-) I hope you are staying warm and having a great start to the new year. I always smile when I read your comments on my blog, thank you for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Jill

Barb, what wonderful memories! I don't remember my parents singing except for Happy Birthday, Christmas Carols or maybe songs at Mass. Thank you for including the music videos! xo

I truly enjoyed your walk down memory lane today. I remember so much of this myself. Boy, those were the good ol' days....so full of the simple life. I find myself missing those days. Honestly, it is very hard for me to understand what a lot of the music is about these days. Hope you are staying warm. I was thinking of you yesterday.....how waking up to snow is a norm for y'all. It's been so dreary around here....no sunshine at all. Take care and stay warm and dry
