Quiet Stretches . . .

Winter, there is a privacy about it which no other season gives you ....In spring, summer and fall, people sort of have an open season on each other; only in the winter, in the country, can you have longer, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.
~Ruth Stout~

I love this quote . . . with some of these longer, quiet stretches of time, I have decided to be creative.  Now, creative to me and creative to someone else might not be the same thing, so don't get too excited... :0)

It's been a while since I have done any crocheting, so I decided to get out my stash and see if I could come up with something that would make me use my imagination and creativity.  I found this pattern on, Ravelry, so I decided to try it.

I didn't use the exact colors that the pattern specified, I just used what I had.  I want to make a fun throw with these blocks and put a cute fabric back on it.  We'll see how it turns out!

I've had a lot of e-mails and sweet messages asking me how I am feeling and wishing me well . . . thank you!  I am feeling better, and just taking it day by day.  I should be doing much better very soon!

My sweet sis is one of those wonderful people who can just make a person feel better by smiling, but, she stopped by last week just to tell me that she was, "tickled pink", that I was feeling better, and look what she brought with her!  I have to admit there's a bag of kisses and a little box of, Now and Later's, that are missing from this gift...and some lip balm and lotion...  ;0)  I love my sister.

We are still in a deep freeze, the high today was about 10 degrees. Right now, it's 3:00 and it's 8 degrees.  It's gorgeous outside, nice and sunny, but so dang cold.  The other day when it warmed up, the snow slid off of the roof . . . it scared poor Cole to death, he thought the sky was falling!

This is what slid off onto my sidewalk!  This snow was about 2 feet deep, and not very fun to shovel...just sayin'.  My husband did most of the shoveling, I did a very small spot on the porch.

I hope everyone is staying warm and safe, until next time!

XOXO,
Barb

I'm glad you are feeling better! My mom is the best! She was telling me about that! I may have to steal that idea. Hopefully you will be back to 100% soon!! Love you!

I that quote is wonderful. I have now been tucked away in my haven for two entire days without chatting with a soul except my blogging buddies. It's been very pleasant and I started to clean my sewing room so that means I may be ready to create something myself. The colors you selected are warm and lovely. Keep showing us those squares. Your sister is a dear for thinking of you with gifts in tow. What a sweet idea. Very glad that you are doing so much better. Snow overnight and through Thursday. Looks like more days to enjoy being myself. (Don't really want to belong to myself now that I think of it. 🙂)

Now I specifically remember removing that first "I." Yes, I am tired of autocorrect in all its forms...this iPad!

I can't wait to see your finished throw. It's going to be beautiful with the colors you are using.
What a thoughtful gift your sis brought. Hee, hee, tickled pink then filling the basket with pink things - Fun!
Our deep freeze is supposed to start tapering off....can't wait. As for the snow sliding off the roof, when you aren't expecting it, it really does scare you sometimes. But then the digging it out is the problem...especially if you let it sit for any length of time.
Glad to hear that you are still on the upward side of feeling better.

Take care, my friend - Marsha

Glad you are on the mend. It takes a while to get over pneumonia. That is a cute get-well gift from your sister. She must be super nice - just like you! I hope things start to warm up a bit there, but I am glad that we are getting some must need moisture here in the west. I love your crocheted creations. You are very talented. I hope the rest of week goes well for you.

I love this project! You are so good. When I am through with my mission; we are going to get together and I want you to teach me how to crochet better. You are so good at it. I love what your sweet sister did for you. I always missed having a sister; it's sad for me.
You finish getting better and stay out of that cold as much as possible. No shoveling snow! Now you would think I am your mother. Love you much dear friend! Hugs~
