My husband and I looked and looked for it, we turned my spare bedroom upside down looking for it, but to no avail. I even looked for the pattern for the lace, because I thought I would just make more, but I could not find the pattern, and I didn't have the time to make more.
I finally decided to just say a quick prayer and ask for a little help in finding the lace. Nothing. I prayed again . . . still nothing. Finally, I decided I would just find something else to give my poor mother, because obviously, I was not going to find the lace.
As I was puttering, trying to get other things done, a little voice told me to go back and look in the closet. Well, I'm a little stubborn, but I listened, I went back into the bedroom, opened the closet doors and just stood there. As I stood there looking, I heard the same, still small voice, tell me to look in a bag that had an old quilt in it . . . now, I knew it was not in there, why would it be in that bag!? But, I listened and opened the bag. I took the quilt out and low and behold, the lace was inside of the folded quilt! I don't recall putting it there, and I have absolutely no idea how it got there, but my prayer had been answered . . .
The next thing I did was get on my knees and thank Heavenly Father, for answering my prayer. I'm not the kind of person who receives inspiration very often, but that night, I heard that still small voice and I'm so glad I listened.
My mother loved her runner, and still remembered making it! It is on one of her dressers and hopefully it will bring her a few moments of remembrance and enjoyment during these dreary winter days.

Oh I love this testimony of answered prayer. God is so good and cares about the things that are dear to us. He definitely wanted to bless you as you wanted the lace to bless your mom. So cool. The lace is the perfect finish for the chicken scratch (❤️) runner/dresser scarf. Very pretty!
What a wonderful story! I had similar experiences and can testify that God does answer our prayers! That is a beautiful runner and Heavenly Father did want your mom to have it because it is a sweet connection between the two of you. Thank your sharing this testimony.
It reminds me of the song by Garth Brooks Unanswered prayers.... he hears us and he always has his reasons! :-) The runner is beautiful!
Blessings,
Jill
Wow, this is some really pretty needle work. What a nice Xmas gift for your mother. Reading this makes me miss my own mom very very much.
Oh my dear friend this is a precious story! The runner is so beautiful. I am sure will spark a memory or two for your sweet mother. Love you much!
Oh, I really enjoyed this post, Barb and what a pretty runner. I love that it was both your mother's hands and yours that created such a lovely masterpiece. Blessings... :)
Barb - what a beautiful story. Your talent will bless your mother with happiness. What a special gift it made!
Barb, I love it when that happens. It has happened for me many times. What a lovely piece of work, both the runner and the crochet lace.
What a neat story! I love how God answered your prayer and you were obedient to hear His 'still, small voice'!
