Frozen-Over . . . in Idaho . . .

Last week, on our weekly trip out with my mother, we drove by the river to see the falls.  As you can see, they were all frozen-over.  There were places where you could see the water, but mostly, the falls were frozen-over!

Across the river, you can see the beautiful, LDS Temple.  It looks so pretty by the falls.  The picture below, is a picture I took a few years ago, you can actually see the falls in this picture!

This is a picture of a little cabin that sits on an island in the Snake River.  They call it, Keefer's Island.  Keefere's Island is a 1.7 square-mile stretch of land in the Snake River,  just a short distance north of the falls.  The small cabin on the island was actually inhabited by Fred Keefer from 1938-1959.  The island was deeded to the city in the early 1900's.  People used to travel long distances each 4th of July to view spectacular fireworks that were launched from the island.

This is a picture of Fred Keefer, he was in interesting character and had a really interesting life!  He even served as sheriff for a short time!

After our ride, we took mom back home, as we went in, we were greeted by, Tillie, the resident house dog, and she just refused to hold still, so the photo is a little fuzzy.  I'm not sure what breed she is, but she is adorable.  She is a rescue dog, and we all know that they can make the best pets.  My mother lives in a memory care unit, and Tillie loves all of them so much.  You can often find her sleeping on my mothers floor, by her bed.

I'll leave you with some beautiful pictures of Idaho, a place I truly love!

Enjoy!

Amazing photos. I didn't think that the mass amount of water coming from the falls would freeze.

I love the contrast between the sky and the frozen falls. So beautiful. Does that happen often?

Wow Bar. Way to make me homesick. I've been to and seen every one of the places that video plays. Sometimes I think I would love to go back - or wish my parents had never left. *sigh*

Wow! I didn't think the falls ever froze over. Beautiful pictures today. Thanks for sharing. I am so ready for warm weather. Today the sun is shining and I can see blue skies. Sadly, it won't last as we're expecting storms this weekend. Stay warm and thanks for sharing the pictures. Nola

Looks cold. I live a stone's throw from the falls and they have not yet frozen over here. The ice fishermen are a bit annoyed by the mild winter.

Wow, what beautiful photographs. My one experience of Idaho was when my daughter was competing in the World Special Olympics Winter Games about 7 years ago now. I got to see the Tetons in the distance and of course the bulk of our time there was spent in Sun Valley and Ketchum. What a beautiful state to live in! You are blessed! xo

I'm surprised that all of that water froze. I loved the slide show at the end, too. Idaho is truly beautiful and so picturesque.
Stay warm... :)
