Memorial Day . . . God Bless America!

I love that these beautiful flags are places along the fence at our local cemetery.  What a beautiful tribute to those men and women who served, and still serve our country with honor, dignity and bravery . . . God Bless America!

In the Civil War’s aftermath, the American orator, Robert Green Ingersoll eloquently memorialized its more than 600,000 dead. I believe his words speak for all who have perished in America’s name. They read:

“They died for liberty – they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless . . . Earth may run red with other wars, but they are at peace. In the midst of battles, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death.”

Hugs,

Cemeteries are so spiritual. I went out early to the Mesa City Cemetery this morning. So neat.

Is there anything more beautiful than the wave of the American flag. Not to just look at a flag, but to look deep at a flag and all it stands for. God Bless America!

What a beautiful quote; I loved it. I love the picture of the flags at local cemetery. We just returned from visiting my hometown in Richfield. This year we looked for some ancestors graves that we didn't previously know where they were. We had such a good time. We visited my only Aunt left who is 94 years old and also had some time with some friends from here. It was a great weekend of remembering. Blessings, hugs and love for you both.
