Anniversary Day Trip . . .

Last Saturday, we decided to take a day trip for our 41st wedding anniversary.  It's always a hard decision to decide where to go, because everywhere we like to go, is a long ways away!  It seems like in Idaho, you have to drive a long way for everything! We decided to go to Palisades Reservoir, you can learn more about it here.  It is the reservoir that holds the water that we use to irrigate the crops where I live in, Idaho.

In this picture, you can see the dam and some of the power plant.  On the left is the spillway, where the water is released as we need it.  My mother has pictures of the actual construction of the dam, which was stared in 1951 and finished in 1957, they are really interesting.

It was such a beautiful day and the sky was so blue!  But, it was windy and a little bit chilly, so I we didn't get out of the car too much.  As you can see in the pictures, we still have a little bit of snow left on top of the mountain tops, but, there will more than likely not be nearly enough run-off to keep us for the rest of the summer.  By late September, the reservoir will have dropped considerably, it's a little scary.

From here, we went through Afton, Wyoming, then on to Montpelier, through Soda Springs,  and then home.  We did stop at Red Lobster and have dinner, yum! It was a fun day, but a long day, I think we drove almost 300 miles!

It seems as we get older, and with each year that passes, it takes less to entertain us!  We were perfectly happy just spending the day together, driving, talking, and at times saying nothing at all . . . nothin' fancy . . .
