My Daybook . . .

Outside my window... We have a strong wind today!  It started blowing last night, and has not let up hardly at all today.  It's warm, in the 40's, very unusual for December in Idaho!

I am thinking...  How wonderful it would be to have snow on Christmas day!  When I was young, we always had snow on Christmas . . . we usually had snow on Thanksgiving!  For the past 10 years or so, it's always questionable whether or not we will have snow on Christmas, how sad...

I am thankful... For Christmas memories.  Not all of them were wonderful, but all of them made me who I am today.  As I was going through some old pictures, I found this  one of my father.  He was a fireman, and when I was a child, the firemen would refurbish old bicycles for Christmas. I happened to be the recipient of one of these wonderful bicycles!  This is a picture of him and several other firemen fixing up a few bikes! My dad is the one sitting on the bicycle . . . I sure do miss him.

I am wearing... I just got home from church, so I am still in my church clothes - a black and white patterned skirt, a red sweater with a black and white matching scarf, very comfy.

I am creating... a calendar for January - can you believe it's already full!

I am going... to be posting more in the new year.  Blogging is something I love, and I miss.

I am wondering... where December went?!

I am reading... I have several books downloaded on my Kindle, but they aren't very interesting.  In January, I plan on going to the library and getting an armful of books, who cares whether or not I read all of them, I just want to turn the pages!

I am hoping... for a peaceful, healthy and happy, 2015.

I am learning... how to eat gluten-free.

Around the house... just last minute preparations for Christmas day.  Trying to keep it simple and meaningful this year.

In the kitchen... for the past few months the kitchen has been challenging.  I have been struggling with asthma all summer, to the point I thought I would have to go to the hospital for testing to see why it was so severe.  To make a long story short, I was prompted to stop eating gluten.  It truly was the answer to my prayers!  That was over a month ago, and today, I am symptom free, and gluten-free!  So . . . my eating habits have changed, along with my cooking habits!

I am pondering... the reason for the season . . . what a blessing it is to have one day set aside each year for Christians around the world to celebrate the birth of the Savior,  and remember the true meaning of Christmas.

A favorite quote for today...
"There is no better time than now, this very Christmas season, for all of us to rededicate ourselves to the principles taught by Jesus the Christ. It is the time to love the Lord our God with all our heart — and our neighbors as ourselves. It is well to remember that he who gives money gives much, he who gives time gives more, but he who gives of himself gives all.
Let this be a description of our Christmas gifts."
~Thomas S. Monson~

One of my favorite things... this little corner of my world . . .
A few plans for this week:

Monday - haircut, yeah! Physical therapy for my poor husbands shoulder - he had another surgery two weeks ago... :0(
Tuesday - clean the house.
Wednesday - visit my mother, celebrate Christmas Eve with one of my daughters and her family.
Thursday - Christmas!
Friday - physical therapy . . . last time!

A peek into one of my days from last month... We spent a few weeks Steel-head fishing on the Salmon River in November.  I love this river's primitive beauty!  The fishing was really good, as you can tell by the middle picture. We go with a few good friends, and always have a lots of fun, eat too much and almost cry when it's time to come home.

Until next time!

Hugs,
