Reflection...Rejoicing!

When I finally found made the time to sit down at the computer, I was a little shocked at how long it had been since my last post!  I am hoping that 2014 will find me sitting at this desk a little more often.

2013 has been a good year.  Not necessarily one in which I've been blissfully happy every single day, but then what year is!?  I am a year older, hopefully a year wiser.  My grandchildren are growing quickly and turning into wonderful young men and women.  My children are a year older, and learning those valuable lessons that every parent, and couple learns... ;0)  Our family has grown by one, and more than likely the last baby, kind of sad...I love my little grands!  Our sweet little Tanner was two months old yesterday...and oh, so sweet!  I suppose my next role will be that of, great-grandmother...eeeek!

Since my husband retired, life has been so interesting!  For 30 years, he worked 40 plus hours a week, woke up at 4:30 a.m. and got home at 7:00 p.m..  For many years he traveled throughout the United States, working away from home for up to a year at a time.  I have to say, he has settled in quite nicely!  He has renewed a relationship with a brother, that had been lost for more than 20 years.  They both recognize how sad that was, and spend as much time as they can together.  He has also created new friendships that will last a lifetime.

I love having him home...although I have found that my life probably changed as much or more than his did.  I was used to doing things at my own pace, (I'm working on getting that back!).  I still do the same things I've always done, I just do them in a different order. I treasure the time that we spend together, and look forward to many more years with this good man!

I guess when I think about it, a bubble of rejoicing starts somewhere in the middle and spreads all over my chest!  I have a place here, and my life has meaning!  I am a daughter of God.  Today, as the year winds down, let me know I am blessed, and rejoice in the dailiness and the magnificence of life!

Happy New Year!

Hugs,

I'm so happy to see your post, my beautiful friend! It's late, so all I'll say for now is, "Happy New Year to you and yours!!"

With a husband retired and a new grandbaby, life must surely be sweet. Somewhere along the way, I thought you were done with blogging and lost track. I'll try to pay better attention now. My retired husband can not stand to be home much so is as busy as ever. I have never had to "get used to" his being around. Sigh. I'd like to, though. Have a blessed New Year!

Hello, Barb! It's so good to see you blogging. At the same time, I understand how a homemaker's habit patterns get rearranged when the hubby is home all the time. Mine is not retired, but he's been working from home for 5 years. I love it but there has definitely been a learning curve for both of us.

We do have so much for which to be thankful and I thank you for reminding me of that this very morning when I woke up feeling tense. The Lord blesses me through you!

Blessed and Happy New Year!

I love your new layout and I have missed your blog posts. You are such a treasured friend and we must see each other on our next trip up. I can hardly believe how much our children and grandchildren have grown in many ways. Christian is way tall and Taylor Jo is taller than me. How did that happen?? We had so much fun with them for a couple of days.
I hope Roger will retire soon; but I know it will be a while. It is awesome to have him home.
You do have the cutest little new grandbaby. I do have another great grandbaby due in June. You already know about y sweet new grandbaby I am thinking this will be the last one too.
Blessings, love and hugs and have a wonderful New Year celebration.

Sweet Barb! Happy New Year! What a treat to see your post. God has blessed us both. I can imagine it would take some adjustment to having your husband around full-time. I have a few more years to "prepare" myself before I am in your shoes. :-)

It sounds like it has been a year of adjusting and happy!
So glad your hubby has been able to retire and you are enjoying time together.

Happy New Years to you. Hopefully 2014 will bring you a life full of joy.

It is good to see a post from you and know that things are going well for you. I'm sure there has been some adjusting to having your hubby home, but at the same time, what a blessing that you can have this time together. And, how wonderful that he has been able to connect up with his brother. Life is short, and we never know what will be coming our way, so I'm happy that you can be together. We are truly blessed to have our families and to see them growing and becoming the great people we know they are of capable of being. I look forward to seeing your posts more often. Life often has a way of taking over and this becomes less important, but it is always wonderful to read your posts.
I love your background! Take care, Nola

Hi Barb. I was in California for Christmas. Had lotsa fun. Just catching up with blogs this morning. Got in Wednesday night and slept most of yesterday and all night last night. Yes. Now I'm up and doing something. Great to hear about your experiences. You always have the uplifting and positive personality that I should have. Happy New Year to you all.

I love the blog. This year we need to do a little more together time crafting or crocheting or something. I am determined to look at face book less and blog more, much more. I did three posts tonight. Anyway. I love you, you are my lifesaver at times. Thank you for all you do.
