My Daybook...

FOR TODAY September 7, 2013

Outside my window... It's overcast, hopefully we will get some rain this afternoon.  We have had rain most everyday this past week, and it has been wonderful...for most of us.  Just South of us about 50 miles, they have had flooding with almost every rain storm, not so fun!  We need the rain desperately to help with the fires and to fill the reservoirs here in Idaho.

I am thinking... That it's been a while since my last post.  I'm not sure how to fit blogging in every day, so once every few weeks will just have to do.

I am thankful... For my garden - I have loved eating from it this Summer.

In the kitchen... Today, I am making chili sauce.  This recipe is one of my families favorite sauces for most everything!  I love it on, ham and beans, hamburgers, hotdogs, in soup, on re-fried potatoes, tacos; really, just about anything you put ketchup on, it's delicious!

I am wearing... My usual Saturday garb - denim capris, and a comfy shirt with pink flowers on it.

I am creating... I'm crocheting an afghan for my new little grandchild that will be here in November!  As you probably guessed by the color, it's a boy!!  We are so excited to meet this new baby!  His mama will also be glad when he gets here!

I am going... I'm staying home today!

I am wondering... What to have for dinner...Oh, you have that problem too?!

I am reading... Zoo, by James Patterson.  It's an interesting read, very different.

I am hoping... I broke my big toe this week...and it hurts!!  I'm hoping that it feels better by next week!

I am looking forward to... Getting this beast, (my husbands new toy, not my husband... ;0)), busy putting in a new fence.  It's only new to him, but he has sure had fun with it!

The grand kids gave it their approval too!

I am listening to...  Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys!  I just love old country music, and Bob Wills is one of my favorite, reminds me of my dad.

Around the house... Mostly puttering, although, we did get the rain gutter guards up last week, so the leafs won't clog up the gutters this Fall...hence the broken toe!

I am pondering... Getting old...yikes!

A favorite quote for today...

Nobody grows old merely by living a number of years.  We grow old by deserting our ideals.  Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul.
~Samuel Ullman~

A few plans for the rest of the week:  Today, putter, finish the chili sauce.  Sunday, renew my spirit by going to church!

A peek into my world... watching Clara feed Jessica's chickens green grass, and checking out the beautiful sunflowers in her garden...can you see the huge bumble bee on the sunflower?!

Have a wonderful week-end!!

Hugs,

I would love to live the way you do. Must be wonderful to see the stars at night and about a million other reasons. Next time I got to Idaho I'm stopping by. :)

Ouch! I'm sorry about your broken toe, Barb. I've enjoyed reading your daybook about what you've been doing and seeing your photos. The chili sauce sounds good and the afghan is going to be very pretty. Congrats on the new baby-to-be!!

I hear you on the blogging. As much as I love blogging, it's getting harder and harder to keep up. There is so much to do and it just isn't getting done because I'm spending too much time on the 'puter! Oh, if only I were younger and had more energy, I could get more done in a shorter amount of time like I used to. So, you could say that I've been pondering getting old(er), too.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Id always feel like I coming home when I read your posts. I have missed your posts. I just so enjoy you and love you much. The pictures are beautiful. I wish I lived closed so you could show me how to crochet that pattern. I can't read one; I have to be shown.
The Chili sauce sounds really good; share that recipe.
I have had a broken toe so I know how that one feels. I hope it heals quickly. I broke my toe when we were at a convention in Florida. I limped around Universal Studios one night.
Sometimes I feel pretty old; so I really liked your quote today.
Blessings, love and hugs for you dear friend.

Hi Barb......Oh my goodness, I can't imagine the pain of breaking a big toe. Just stumping my toes on the furniture, makes me hurt all over. You need to rest that foot! (Let everyone wait on you and treat you like the princess you are) This is such a beautiful sunflower picture. Sunflowers are gorgeous flowers, which always make me smile.
Sure do like your header photo. Makes me want to come up and visit...
Have a wonderful Sunday..

Hi Barb, I'm so sorry to hear about your toe! :( I hope it is feeling better soon. I'm sure it is very painful, so take care. Your afghan is so pretty. Is it an easy pattern? I almost always have a problem of what to fix for dinner. I wish it wasn't such a problem! I enjoyed all of your photos, and hearing what has been going on in your home. Thank you for sharing! Enjoy a wonderful week!! :)

Sweet Barb,

What a busy week! That beast looks difficult to drive! Love your pictures especially your sunflower! I'm hoping to start a crochet project this week. I haven't crocheted in probably 20 years.... :-)

So sorry to hear about the broken toe! I broke a toe years ago and it was terribly painful.

The blanket you are crocheting is beautiful. We had a new baby born to the family earlier this week (a great-niece). I'll be announcing her birth on my blog with a picture of the quilt I made for her; but I'm waiting until I get to give it to her in 2 weeks, so the design is a surprise to the mother.

As always I enjoy reading your blog when you have the time to post. Blessings to you!

Hi Barb - I'm glad you stopped by! Good to hear from my blog friends - I've missed you all. I've been spending so much time with my sis this spring and summer. That's a pretty pattern you're using on that sweet little afghan - it looks so soft. Another grandbaby... my, I'm so jealous. No grandbabies yet for me. I still need to get two of my kids married off! I hope you had a wonderful summer (and I see that you did your annual campout)and now, we can get ready for fall! I love this time of year! Take care, my friend!

Hi Barb,
I just logged on this morning to get your mother's recipe for hamburger soup. I made it several times last winter and really enjoyed it! Now that fall is in the air, time to make it again. :) Hope things are going well with you. I loved these last pics of Bob on his tractor. Did you get your new fence yet? :)
hugs to you,
Kamber

A baby, busy fencing, children playing around, cooking a delicious meal, installed a gutter guard – it looks like a busy day for all of you but with the smiles on your grandchildren’s faces, they definitely had a lot of fun. I hope all your days will be like this.
