Almost done with our trip...

Just before we got to, Torrey, a cute little town in Southern Utah, we stopped to look at these amazing Indian petroglyphs.  I am so fascinated by this kind of history.  I love that they left a "scrap book" on the rocks for us to ponder on, and try to guess what they really looked like and what they were trying to tell us!

The rocks underneath were just high enough to stand on.  As you can see, someone took some pot-shots at these petroglyphs!  I'll never understand some people...

I don't know if you can read this, but on April 9,  1919, James H. and Max E. Cook decided to sign their names to this rock!

Fruita Schoolhouse

They did a great job at re-doing this old school.  This is a picture of the teachers desk, taken through the window...don't  you just love the flag on the desk?!

After leaving, Torrey, you go over the most beautiful mountain pass...very majestic, you could see for miles!

Once you get over the pass, the landscape drastically changes from the beautiful orange and red rock to this white rock for hundreds and hundreds of miles!

Can you imagine constructing this highway?  These rocks just go on for miles!  At one point as you are going through this rough country, the road goes right over the very top of a huge mountain ridge, with very steep drops on both sides of the road.  I didn't get a picture, because I was cowering on the middle console of the truck!!

This is the little town of, Tropic, right before you get to, Bryce Canyon.  I took this picture for my sweet friend and neighbor, who was raised in Tropic until she was about 12 years old - she is now 97 years old, so I'm sure it looked a little different 85 years ago!

A little taste of Bryce Canyon, right before you get into the park!

But, I have to finish the laundry...so it will have to wait until tomorrow!

Hugs,

Fruita and Tropic sound like such hip, modern names...sort of like those drawings on the canyon walls that look as if they were telling us that they'd been visited by aliens! Now I certainly hope that you don't miss the best shots for cowering in the back seat again. :D

Loved the pictures of the canyon drawings. I have always wanted to go and see them. It certainly does make one wonder what message they were leaving for us. The pictures of the scenery is so beautiful and makes me want to take a trip down through that area. Thanks for sharing. Nola

Wow! Wish I was with you. I've passed by Tropic a million times but never have been into the town. I have a friend here in Mesa from Tropic. Don't you just love petroglyphs? Fascinating!
