A little of this, and a little of that . . . .

My daughter posted this quote on her Facebook page - I loved it, thank you Jess!

"Men may fail in this country, earthquakes may come, seas may heave beyond their bounds, there may be great drought, disaster, and hardship, but this nation, founded on principles laid down by men whom God raised up, will never fail. This is the cradle of humanity, where life on this earth began in the Garden of Eden. This is the place
of the new Jerusalem.

This is the place that the Lord said is favored above all other nations in all the world. This is the place where the Savior will come to His temple. This is the favored land in all the world. Yes, I repeat, men may fail, but this nation won’t fail. I have faith in America; you and I must have faith in America, if we understand the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are living in a day when we must pay heed to these challenges.

I plead with you not to preach pessimism. Preach that this is the greatest country in all the world. This is the favored land. This is the land of our forefathers. It is the nation that will stand despite whatever trials or crises it may yet have to pass through."

Good words to live by . . .

Bob certainly knows how to make a girl happy!!  Last week when he went fishing, this is what he brought Home!  I love fresh fish!!

I promised I would share the instructions for these wonderful dishcloth's, so here it is:

Hook size - I or J, depending on how tight you crochet, I use J.
Materials - a good quality cotton yarn (I like Lilly Sugar n Cream, you can get it at Michaels or Walmart).

Chain 27  - you can make it bigger  or smaller if you want, the stitch count does not matter.

There is no gauge.

Row 1 - sc in second chain from hook, and in each ch across, ch 1, turn
Row 2 - sc in first sc, and in each sc across (top loop only - throughout), chain 2 and turn.
Row 3 - dc in first sc and in each sc across, chain 1, turn.

Repeat rows 1, 2 and 3 until it is big enough for you - I usually stop when I have 5 rows of double crochet.  You can do some kind of decorative stitch around the edge if you want, but I usually don't.

This is such an easy pattern, just remember, 2 rows of single crochet - one row of double crochet, that's all there is too it!  These make great gifts!

Have a wonderful week-end!!

Warm Hugs,

I felt sad I didn't get a moment to call you. I hope your Bob is doing well from his surgery and that you had a wonderful birthday.
Those fish looks so good. I must say we haven't fished in so many years. I haven't had trout for many years also. We used to love to do that. Maybe when Roger retires someday we can go fishing with you guys.
Thanks for the tutorial on the washcloths. I actually wanted to get with you and have you teach me a new pattern for an afghan.I don't do instructions as well as that hands on things. Hope you have a lovely weekend.
Love and hugs to you both!

Thanks for sharing that quote. It's perfect, isn't it?

Thanks for sharing the cloth pattern. I love cotton "dishrags" (as my mom calls them).

I love to fish and used to go with my dad. He always insisted on baiting my hook and cleaning my fish. Now he's gone I'm not anyone's little girl and have to do it myself. Fishing just doesn't seem the same anymore. Nothing tastes as good as fresh trout. You lucky woman!!!! I hope Bob is all recovered.

Big Hugs!

Oh wow! Those are a couple of really nice fish! You've probably eaten them by now...I'm sure they were delicious. Lovely dishcloths, I wish I knew how to crochet, but I have two left hands when it comes to that kind of needlework.
Have a great week!

Hi Barb! Good to hear from you - it's been SO busy around our place, I'm meeting myself coming and going!

Wow, those fish look great. Trout, right? We eat bass down here in Texas - I love fish AND fishing.

Love the picture of your mom and dad, too - your dad was so handsome a young sailor... I know you must miss him, and now your aunt, too.

I hope you have a wonderful productive week - next week is Thanksgiving and it'll be so good have all our loved ones, big and small, all around us again! Sending you a warm hug this chilly day, Barb!
