Bob and I decided to go on a day trip last week, just the two of us! It was a lot of fun, he even went fishing, something I have been trying to get him to do since he retired. We didn't leave until he caught his limit . . . :0) Yes, they were delicious!!
We stopped at the, "Soldiers Grave". This brave soldier was named Samuel A. Glass. Samuel was a blacksmith, and was shot through
the bladder during a battle. On August 22nd, he died of his injuries, and was buried
near Pleasant Valley, in the Kilgore area, under the direction of General Howard. His
grave is maintained by the forest service and is well kept. Wild
flowers grow on his fenced in grave-site. It overlooks this beautiful valley. His headstone reads:

We drove home over Porcupine Pass - such a beautiful drive! The willows are changing color along the creeks, it won't be long until the the Quaking Aspen start to change. I can hardly wait, their colors are so vibrant and beautiful! Along the way, we saw four elk, a rare treat these days.
I Just love all of the old buildings and barns that dot the landscape in this area. I know that each one of them tell a story . . . I would love to hear those stories . . .
The mountains are just gorgeous this time of year! It was very smokey, but they are still so majestic and beautiful to look at!

I like the smoky edges you gave your mosaics to mimic what was going on with the wildfire smokes. Very pretty country. The old grave is sobering...hope that the soldier didn't suffer long...Yay for fishing and delicious fish to enjoy. Now that your hubby has taken your advice, he may do it more often.
What a gorgeous set of photos. It looks like a very peaceful, relaxing way to spent the day. I especially love the pics of the soldier's grave. He was a long way from home, but it looks like he ended in a good spot.

That sure looks like a peaceful and relaxing trip! Beautiful scenery, too!! We both like to fish, but hubby hates cleaning them so we seldom go. I like to catch them, and I'll cook them, but I don't want to filet them. I'm not too handy with a knife!

Just a lovely post of beautiful pictures and thoughts. I am so glad you were able to go fishing. I wish I could get Roger to do some things like that again. Maybe when he does retire. We have many memories of fishing and hunting. I loved being in the mountains. I love the fall colors.
We are coming up for Christian an Austin's game tomorrow night; maybe we will see each other for a hug. I guess we will be on one side of the game for the 1st half and then the other side for the 2nd half. It should be fun. Blessings and hugs!
