Home Again . . .

It seems like we just got home . . .  and we've been home for almost a week!  We had a great time, caught up on lots of rest, played cards til' I won a hand.... ;0)  sat by the fire, read, and did . . . . nothing . . . . and it felt good!!

Setting up at our favorite spot.

Caribou Mountain looking very majestic!

Feeling like I'm on top of the world!

Quick story - Bob and I have found at least 3 lost dogs while we have been in the mountains, and this camping trip was no exception!   We were just minding our own business, driving down a beautiful road, when Bob said, "There's a dog in the road."  I thought it was a calf, but sure enough, it was a dog, he was standing in the middle of the road, and he was very lost!  I'm pretty sure that God knows how gullible we are, and just drops them right in our path to take care of!!

He was so sad . . . and soooo skinny!  We gave him a little food, but not too much, especially since he was so hungry, and had been without food for a long time.

This poor guy was so weak, he couldn't even get into into the truck by himself - Bob had to lift him in.  He did have on a collar with a name and phone number on it, and a GPS collar.  We called his owner, who fortunately, was not very far away - and  in fact, had been coming to the hills, looking for his dog everyday for a week!!  They had been bear hunting, and his dog got away from him and had been gone for 7 days . . . without food, thank goodness there was plenty of water.   His owner was very happy to see him, as he was his best dog!  This beautiful dog was named, Jake!

Cole did not know what to think about Jake. . . sitting on his seat!!  But he tolerated him, even let him lay down while he sat on the floor!

We were on a walk and Cole scared up this rabbit - it scared him to more than it scared the rabbit!

Cole had a great time playing in the forest!

Yes, there are still cowboys in Idaho . . .

And gorgeous sunrises . . .

Cool nights, perfect for sitting in front of a fire . . .

Amazing skies . . .

Trees, perfectly spaced for putting up a hammock . . .

To take naps in  . . .

John Muir said it perfectly when he said:

"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul."

Have a beautiful week!!

Hugs,

Your camping trip looks and sounds amazing. Alaska is like this, only I don't go camping here because of the bears. You need to make a trip up here sometime.

It looks like you had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying those beautiful mountains. So glad you were able to get away. How lucky you were to find the dog's owner and how grateful he was, I'm sure, that you cared enough to locate him. I do miss camping in the mountains.
There is nothing better than being outdoors. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Nola

Feel as if I've just been on a little break, too. What gorgeous country! I'm glad that you and your hubby found Jake. His owner must be so happy. And you must be so happy that there's an owner or you just might have a new kid in the family named Jake. ☺

Barb, Oh how I would love to visit that beautiful countryside! I'm glad that you and your sweet husband had a restful time away. Puppy Jake is very lucky to have wandered your way. I'm glad that his owner was found.

Hello Barb!

How did I not find your darling blog until just now??!!

I love your blog!
I'm now following you and looking so forward to reading your posts :)

Amazing story about finding the hunting dog!
We had a similar thing happen to us a few weeks ago while we were on our ATV's riding in the mountains.
Poor little fella's.
The little dog we found had also gotten lost while tracking bear.
He couldn't even walk and had to stay kenneled for 3 days until he would take food and water and could walk.

So nice to 'meet' you ...
Hope you have a great weekend too!!

Smiles :)
Kerin

p.s
I'm going to add your blog to my blog list :)

I think I am coveting this one. The pictures were so beautiful and I know that you both felt at peace in this environment. We need to figure out a way to take some time to do something just like this. We need some peace. Our vacation will be with hopefully 48 of our children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I don't think that will qualify as peaceful. I can't even imagine a trip like yours; but maybe sometime. I am so happy that you had such a great time. I loved the dogs story too; sweet.
Hugs and love to you both!

Again, your camping pics have made me very homesick -- in a good way. Looks like such a wonderful, relaxing way to wile away a week together. I'm so glad you and Bob are getting to have these kinds of times together. I love that you found a dog, and that you got to return it to its owner!! What a happy ending!

Happy Spring!
