Trying to be creative . . . and decluttering . . .

I teach the young women in my church, and the other day, one of them had on this really cute crochet necklace, and I just fell in love with it!  I borrowed it from her to see if I could maybe copy the pattern, as she bought it.   Well, my first hurdle was that it was knitted and not crocheted - but I still wanted to try to make one.  So  . . . this is my attempt.  Hers was made with long strips of knitting to look like roses, but I decided I would crochet roses instead.

Now, you'll just have to imagine a black bow and beads - I left those off - but I kind of like it!  I think it will be really cute with a black sweater . . . what do you think?

I've been trying to declutter!  Grandma's collect lots of pictures from grandkids, and I love them all so much, I can't hardly bear to throw any of them away!  I decided that I would start taking pictures of them, putting the date and who created them and keep them on a disk.  There are some that I just cannot bear to part with, so I will keep those.  Hopefully this will help me get some of my paper clutter under control.

Emily drew this picture for me  . . . she is 5 yrs. old, and such a good artist!

Brody is a great artist - Auntie, you will recognize this picture from your blog!

My other grands are wonderful artists too, but these are the pictures I had on hand.

Today my sister and mother came to see me and  we went to the most wonderful little shop in my little town called, The Ribbon Retreat.  Oh.my.goodness!!  So much fabric, and so much fun stuff.  I really need to get my sewing machine out!!

Have a great day all!!

Hugs,

That is really cute. You are so talented. I put all the things my gd's made me into plastic boxes. One day my dd came looking through them for some of their writings. I was glad I had them to give to her. Photos is an excellent way to preserve the memories without the bulk.

What a fun necklace! I can't believe how creative and talented you are to do this. I could never figure out how to even make the roses and have it look nice. Don't you love the pictures your grandchildren give you. Like you I have a bunch and have been thinking of scanning them and making them into books. A friend recently suggested making them into a quilt, pillow, etc. Never thought of that. But, I think your idea of putting them on a disc is great. May copy you on that. Nola

Barb,

Those roses are darling! Were they difficult to make? I wish we lived closer and I'd love to learn how to make such sweet things. Maybe some day a visit!

Blessings,

Gina

You are so crafty! Me, not at all. But it's very nice, that you are.

Decluttering in a thoughtful way. Good for you! Take pics and put 'em on a disc. Get rid of the accumulations, which take up more room. I'm all for that!!!

Gentle hugs,
"Auntie"

Hi Barb!

You know what? I like the crochet roses better than the knitted ones. My mom tried to teach me to knit and crochet when I was small, but I just wasn't good at it. I always did like the stitching from crochet better than knitted stitches. Just a personal preference of mine. Both are cute.

What a great idea for preserving the kid's artwork! You keep the memory forever that way!

And speaking of memories, I'm sure you created some special ones on your outing with your mom and sister. What a nice way to spend an afternoon, shopping! Those are the moments you'll treasure forever.

Have a great day!
