Busy, Busy!!

FOR TODAY July 19, 2011

Outside my window... It's another beautiful day here in Idaho!  There is just a hint of a breeze, a few clouds floating around, covering the sun every now and then.  I think it's suppose to be in the upper 80's today . . . just gorgeous!   Oops, we just had a rainstorm!!

I am thinking...  How long it's been since my last post!!  Summer is such a busy time and time just seems to keeps on moving at a very fast pace!  I hope to have a little more time to blog . . .  and comment!

I am thankful for... Quiet moments . . .

From the learning rooms... I've learned that walking on a tire takes lots of practice!

And that a big black dog can be your best friend . . .

And so can your brother . . .

And your cousins . . .

That fireworks are fun!

And, that Averi can see them!

And sound like them . . .

That babies grow up wayyyyy toooo fast!

And that mothers and uncles . . . grow old way too fast . . .

And . . . that we need to enjoy life's simple pleasures, and not take anything for granted , because life is . . . way too short.

From the kitchen... Hubby is working night shift - yuck - so I have to have supper ready by about 3:30 in the afternoon, so he can leave at 5:00 p.m.  Today, I am making chicken supreme with broccoli and cauliflower!

Here's a sneak- peek,  and the recipe!

Chicken Supreme for Two

Two skinned and boned chicken breasts.

1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt - I used low-fat sour cream.  Season the sour cream or yogurt with about 1 Tbls. dry ranch dressing, or substitute half the sour cream with ranch dressing.  I also add about 1 tsp. of garlic powder.
About one-half sleeves crushed cracker crumbs - I used Ritz, but any kind will work.

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese.

Roll the chicken in the sour cream, then dredge in cracker crumbs.  Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes, then cover and bake another 30 minutes. Cover with Parmesan cheese the last 15 minutes or so before it's done.

I am wearing... A pink polo shirt and denim capris!

I am going... Tomorrow night, I am going with my daughter and her two children to  a musical program where my mother lives.  It is a musical tribute to the Mormon Pioneers who settled Southeast Idaho.  I have lots of pioneer heritage, which I am very proud of, so I am really looking forward to going!

This picture is called, "Fragile Beginning to a Mighty End", by Cloyd Bedke.  It depicts a wagon train coming west into Fort Laramie Wyoming.

I am hoping... That my garden will grow!  We put soil pep (which is chopped up bark) on the garden in the spring, and it depleted the nitrogen in the soil - we have been slowly replacing it, but is sure looks sick!

I am hearing... Complete silence . . . except for the air conditioner... :0)

Around the house... I am just doing little busy, quiet things so I don't wake up my sleeping husband.

One of my favorite things... I love to have supper on the patio!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Tonight - do a few batches of  laundry, maybe mow the lawn.
Wednesday - Picnic with my sister and our daughters - at least those who can come!  Go to the Pioneer program.
Thursday - Just hang out with my husband.
Friday - Shopping and yard work.
Saturday - Big ?
Sunday - Church

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

A couple of pictures of our beautiful Idaho sunsets!!

Many Overdue hugs!

So glad to see a post from you. I was beginning to worry that you might be ill or that something had happened to a family member. We have all missed you! It's true summer is such a busy time and I feel like it is just flying by now that July has arrived. Loved all the family pictures!
Especially loved the quote by Berna Willia. I never see a sunset that I don't think of my mother and how much we used to have calling each other on the phone when we saw a beautiful sunset. We would run to our windows and oooh and aaah. Then as I came from from the hospital after she passed away there was one of the most beautiful sunsets I had ever seen and I
knew she was enjoying it also. Always felt like it was a gift. Anyway, glad you are back. Loved reading your daybook. Nola

Missed you, Barb! And the last time I tried to post a comment, blogger wouldn't let me! Drat! Been having problems with blogger lately and I hear others have had, too.

What a fun July 4th you had with all the kiddos there. We have to enjoy each moment with our loved ones be they old or young - we never when it will be our last. You have such a lovely family. Sounds like you're really enjoying your summer - too busy to blog! and that's okay!

Well here you are now and that's all that counts. Looks as if summer has been a busy blast so far. Your grands all look so happy to be at your place. Your mother has such a sweet face holding the baby. Her smile makes me smile. Take it easy now...perhaps with your hubby being on this uggy schedule, you'll do your blogging in the evenings to keep you occupied. Hope that he's not on it too long.

Barb, I have missed your blog. You are such a dear friend and sister to me. I loved your thoughts and appreciate the fact that I need to step back and really enjoy the moments. Life always seems so busy and I always feel behind. I want to just sit back on my porch and read a good book. I am going to try that tomorrow morning; I think.
The pictures of your sweet grandchildren are so dear and of course three of them are mine.
I am looking forward to having Christian come up with Austin. I have plans for the my 12 year old grandsons. I know crazy, right.
I loved your recipe and I still need to just come and relax in your kitched and watch a master chef at work.
Enjoy your momrnts and know that you are loved by me.

Barb -- I have sincerely missed your blog posts, but there are other things that need our prioritized attention and it sounds like you have been busy with them! I love the way you let pictures tell much of your story as you blog. Keep up the good ministry in your family and home, and please write about it as often as your time and strength will allow!

I hopped over from another blog. I saw that you lived in Idaho and gave a little squeal of delight.
I've enjoyed reading through here and getting to "know" you better.
We sound the same in our worries about the cold weather and will the garden grow and love for grandkids.
Hope you have a great week.

Well Barb, thanks for your comment.
I'm a Rexburgian, but was raised in the Snake River area. Graduated from Snake River, my mom and dad still live there.
So we are pretty much related don't ya think?

Congrats on the son being sealed there this weekend! That is wonderful. My son and his family were sealed in the Rexburg Temple two years ago and our 4th child was married there just 3 weeks ago.
Just up the street from me!

Your grands are precious and I always enjoy seeing them. The recipe is one I'll definitely try out as soon as it cools off enough to turn the oven on!! It is so bloomin' hot here lately...ugh!!! So ready for fall and we still have August to get through...help! :D Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Barb,
What a lovely post. I love love love all the pictures of your sweet babies. Those first few of Jessie's daughter remind me of the way *I* remember Jessie. Does time really pass so quickly? In my memory, it could be little Jessie kid-sister and good ol' Max with the tire! ha! Was great to see you guys at Averi's baptism -- just way too short.

Love, Kamber
