Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY February 8, 2011

Outside my window... It's very dark, and only 15 degrees, brrrrrr!

I am thinking... How wonderful it is to be able to meet new and wonderful friends through blogging!  There really are such wonderful people all over the world, and with a click of a key we can talk to and meet people we would never have met without technology!

I am thankful for... My sweet husband... :0)  I've said it before, and I will say it again, he is the best!

From the learning rooms...Today, I've been thinking about my children.  Some of them are going through some very rough times in their lives, uncertainty with employment, having children of their own, loving, supporting, nurturing and just trying to get through this thing we call life!  I never, want my children to feel alone!  I want them to know that I will always be with them, they will never have to be alone - no matter what.   I am never alone!  I can always turn to my Father in  Heaven, tell Him my deepest thoughts and desires, cry out for reassurance, beg for mercy, and feel His love . . . and know, I am NEVER ALONE.

One of my favorite songs is "Never Alone" by  Jim Brickman and sung by Lady Antebellum  ~ enjoy ~ Don't forget to pause my music!

My favorite verse from the song:

well I have to be honest
As much as I want it
I'm not gonna promise that the cold winds won't blow
So when hard times have found you
And your fears surround you
Wrap my love around you
You're never alone

From the kitchen... Today I made a ham because I wanted to make,  "ham, egg and cheese breakfast muffins", for my husbands lunch.  This really is a much healthier version of the Egg McMuffin!

I start with 6 Whole Wheat English Muffins.  Split them and  lay them all out to assemble.  I like to put the cheese in the middle because it melts better that way, put the ham on the bottom - however much you like, I put a big fat slice.  then put a nice slice of cheese on top of the ham, whatever kind you like, I used medium cheddar today, but Swiss is wonderful.  In the mean time, scramble about 5 eggs with a little water, just until they are nice and soft-set.  Split the eggs up between the muffins and put them on the other half, then put the two half's together.  I wrap them in a piece of wax paper and then put them in a sandwich size baggie.  Then, when they are all wrapped and put in their own little bag, I put them in a gallon size bag and put them in the freezer!

When I am fixing my husbands lunch, I just pop one of these in his lunch.  When he gets to work he can put it in the microwave for about 40-50 seconds and it will be a wonderful hot breakfast for him - along with a carton of yogurt it will keep him until lunchtime!

I am wearing... My long flannel nightgown!

I am creating... I'm going to be making the cutest little blankets to cover baby carriers - they are adorable and easy to make - of course I will need my sis to help me . . . because I love spending time with her, and she really is very talented!

I am going... To go to lunch and shopping with mom and sis tomorrow - sounds fun doesn't it!

I am reading... Nothing right now.

I am hoping... That the weather stays clear so my husband and I can go on our day trip on Friday.

I am hearing... Pandora Radio - have I told you how much I enjoy Pandora Radio?  Right now Paul Cardall is on - beautiful!

Around the house... I decided I better clean my guest bedroom.  I will be having my grandchildren stay a night or two when their mom has her baby and I wanted it all spic and span when they came!

One of my favorite things... Sleeping in, enough said!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Tomorrow - Lunch and shopping with sis and mom.
Thursday - Spend the day with my daughter so she can get her hair cut and finish up last minute details . . .  so she can have a baby!
Friday - Hopefully spend the day with my husband on a day trip, keep your fingers crossed!
Saturday - Baby shower for my daughter.
Sunday - Church.
Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

"Love has no desire but to fulfill itself.  To melt and be like a running brook that sings its melody to the night.  To wake at dawn with a winged heart and give
thanks for another day of loving. "
~Kahlil Gibran~

Warm hugs,

Hi Barb, it's getting late and way past my bedtime, but I wanted to drop by and say that I always enjoy your daybook! I just love "Never Alone"! Great song.

The weather is still crummy here...I just peeked out and it's snowing again! The weatherman said just flurries, but the previously cleared driveway is covered. Grrrrr.

Hope you have fun making your blankets and going to lunch! I'm planning on going to Columbia for some shopping, hope the weather is cooperative! And for you on Friday so you can get away with your hubby...have fun!

Take care and have a good day! Cheryl

Hi Barb! Still in your gown - lucky you!

Those Egg McMuffins look great - wish I had one with my coffee here at work today. It's begun sleeting just in the last half hour and they're saying we're in for more ice/snow. Yuck.

I love that "Never Alone" song, too - and your sweet little vintage Valentine. Hope your day trip with your hubby is SO much fun and full of Valentine sweetness, my friend.

Have fun shopping and doing those last minute preps with your daughter - another baby,...... sigh..... must be nice...... Hugs!

For some reason when I read your post today; I felt nostalgia. It's like you always say the perfect thing for me to think about. Or perhaps we are closer in spirit in a way. I know we must have been sisters in heaven; maybe that it is.
I loved that song very much. I felt warm and surrounded by love.
I know that our children have their own learning curve; but somehow I wish I could encircle them in my love so they will not hurt but that isn't the plan. I do know that the Savior walks with us and we are encircled in the arms of his love; so therefore we are never truly alone.
Thanks for being a very dear friend.
Enjoy every moment with your Mom and Sister; I wish I would have had a sister and I miss my mom!

The song was beautiful and so were the sentiments. We have beautiful blue skies here but it was frosty this morning and it's still cold for here. The wind is what makes us cold. I'm hoping to get a post up today and am catching up on chores. My gd visited me yesterday and we made Mushroom Soup and Baked Custard they were delicious. Enjoy your week and you time with family. Hugs. Linda

Hi Barb,
That song is so pretty. I enjoyed listening to it. Sleeping in is one of my favorite things too! Your Egg McMuffins sound very good, and seem very easy to make. Thank you for sharing them. I hope you are able to get away on Friday, and enjoy a fabulous day!! :)

Hi Barb...Hope that day trip with your husband makes for another beautiful memory that the two of you can share.
Isn't that just a beautiful song? I love it! Even makes me think that I can sing because I get so caught up in it...
Wonderful ideal to make the egg muffins and freeze them.
I know you all are getting so excited about the baby! Woo hoo!!

Hugs today!
