Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

Thanks to Peggy for hosting the Simple Woman's Daybook. http://thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com/
FOR TODAY - November 17, 2010

Outside my window... The skies are gray, cloudy and gloomy!

I am thinking... How much I could be getting done inside, and how much still needs to be done outside, before the snow falls . . . and sticks.

I am thankful for... A warm house, food in my pantry, fresh water to drink - the simple necessities of life, that so many go without.  We are very blessed.

A scripture to share...

I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving
Psalms 69:30

I am wearing... Jeans and a blue sweater - it's cold here in Idaho!

I am creating... Nothing yet...but soon...I promise!

I am going...To go to lunch with my sister and mother.  We try to get together at least a couple times a month to have lunch and go shopping.

I am hoping... That the weather stays good for Thanksgiving.  I hate traveling on slick roads!

I am hearing... Christmas music - trying to get into the Christmas Spirit!  I think I get a little bit of seasonal depression when it gets dark so early and I don't get outside to soak up the sunshine -- I need to do that.

Around the house... Tomorrow, I am going to tackle the computer room, it really needs to be cleaned and organized - that's my plan and I'm sticking to it!

One of my favorite things... Listening to Christmas music - I love the way that it makes me feel.  Some of my favorite songs are songs I loved as a child - Ray Conniff Singers, Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Elvis, Johnny Mathis . . .

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Today - lunch with mom and sis.
Tomorrow - Clean computer room
Friday - My husband and I are both getting our teeth cleaned.
Saturday - Putter, maybe get some things done outside, if the weather holds up!
Sunday - Church.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

"So once in every year we throng
Upon a day apart,
To praise the Lord with feast and song
In thankfulness of heart."
-Arthur Guiterman, The First Thanksgiving

Hi Barb: I am so amazed that I am feeling just like you today. Except for I don't really want to go outside to do anything. I am basically not ready for cold weather. I am starting to get in the Christmas mood; so I will be getting out my favorite Christmas Music. I really like the song; "Mary, Did You Know".
I love your thoughts! By the way, I have thought about doing a Woman's Daybook. Do you have to copy and paste the pictures each time you do one. I think I am blogging challenged. I still want to learn how you did the signature. Anyway, love you much; thanks for being my friend. Love to you all and give hugs to my grandchildren for me. LeAnn

Hi Barb, it's good to "see" you! We have a lot in common, I absolutely love Christmas music...those artists you named are among my favs. I also dislike (putting it mildly) wintry travel.

We've finally gotten most things done outside except for the leaves. They are hard to keep up with, one tree is stubborn and always lags behind the others dropping leaves, so we have that to do yet.

I've begun some decorating for Christmas, if putting out the collections of snowmen and santas count. We're wondering how long our tree will stay upright with the cat being a year old now and much heavier than last year.

I'm thankful, too, for the simple things we take for granted every day. And also thankful for dear blogging friends like you! If I don't "see" you again before next week, I wish you a wonderful Thanksgiving Day!

Hugs,
Cheryl

Barb,

I bet it is cold in Idaho! It has been pleasant here (50's) but we are due for colder weather soon.

I don't like to hear Christmas music until after Thanksgiving. It won't be long!

Great blog, Barb. It has been cold and gloomy here but today was lovely and gave me a chance to get a few more of those leaves gathered up. I'm with you...there is so much to do outside.
I love Christmas music, too. Our local radio stations have been playing Christmas music since the first of the month. I hope we will all have good weather for Thanksgiving. I don't like being out on poor roads either. I, too, am thankful for the simple necessities of life, and that we always seem to have enough. Hope you had fun with your mom and sister today. I think it is wonderful you do this. Nola

This was a good blog today; I enjoy the traditional Christmas music, too, done by those that I have heard as "my own" over the years. We have some Christmas music by "The Sunday Saxes" that we had on LP, then on 8-track, then on cassette, and then on CD. Hmmmm...wonder if I could find the same on iTunes?

Hi Barb, I always enjoy your daybook, and I too love Christmas music. I jumped for joy when I read that you like the Ray Conniff singers, I just love them, plus all the oldies.
Wishing you and your family a most blessed Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Sue

RYC-I'm sorry. My laptop wasn't working for a couple of weeks and when I got it up again I just didn't feel like being on line. I'm dealing with a cold but otherwise everything is fine. It's nice to know I was missed. :-)

Hi Barb! I'e enjoying your music this morning while I read. I love Christmas music, too, and since we're about the same age (I think) I enjoy all those older singers, too. None of this new funky stuff. My daughter will be home from college in a few days and she's going to help me put up the tree and decorations! It'll be fun. It's time for me to get busy cleaning up before the family starts arriving, and so I'll put on some Christmas music and GIT BUSY! Have a lovely weekend, and enjoy your family time next week!
Big hug sent out to you!

Happy Spring!
