Simple Woman's Daybook...

FOR TODAY - September 22, 2010

Outside my window... There are a few clouds scattered around the sky today, the wind is blowing and it's warm.  There is a lot of dust in the air, as the farmers are starting to dig potatoes.  They just got done with grain, so we didn't get much of a break with dust!!

I am thinking... How much my cousin looks like my grandmother!  It was my mother's, first cousins birthday today, so my sister and I took my mother to see her.  I was totally amazed at how much she looked like my grandmother.  It's funny how those genes get passed down isn't it?  We did get a big bonus while we were there - her daughter, who lives with her was home for lunch,  and it was so nice to see her!

I am thankful for...The smells of Autumn.  We went to Porters (craft store) and bought a new candle, "Autumn Wreath", it smells delightful!  I lit it the minute I got home, and already, my house is filled with the most wonderful smells... :~)

From the learning rooms...This comment may not be for everyone, so proceed with caution!  I have learned that not all bras are created equal!  Yesterday, my daughter and I went shopping.  Well, after she saw my bra, which must have been a horrifying experience for her,  she decided that it was time very necessary for me to get a new one!  I won't go into details, but mine was BAD!  We went directly to Lane Bryant and they fit me for a new bra...what a strange experience that was, yikes!   Anyway, my....girls...look totally different now!  They are actually kind of....I guess I would say...perky... and,  they don't move when I walk!  If you need a new bra, don't delay - run as fast as you can and get a new one!  It feels wonderful!
From the kitchen...The other night I made a really good, low fat meal, that was not only delicious, but very filling.

Greek Lemon Chicken and Potatoes

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup fat-free chicken broth
1 Tbls Olive Oil
4 medium garlic cloves, minced
1 Tbls dried oregano or 1 tsp fresh
1 Tbls Italian seasoning
1 1/2 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, about 8 thighs
1 lb. new potatoes, cut in half (about 10 small potatoes)

Place lemon juice, broth, oil, garlic and oregano in a large resealable plastic bag or glass bowl.  Add chicken, seal bag or cover bowl, and marinate at least 2 hours or up to overnight in the refrigerator.

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.  Coat a 9X11 pan with cooking spray.

Place chicken and marinade in pan; add potatoes.  Cover and bake one half hour - uncover and bake another half hour, or until chicken is done and potatoes are tender, about 60 minutes.  Yields about 2 chicken thighs per person and 5 potato halves per serving.
7 ww points per serving.

I added two small zucchini, cut in to chunks, the last half hour of cooking.  We also had ripe tomatoes from the garden - it was delicious!

I am wearing...Jeans and an off-white t-shirt...and of course my Birks!

I am creating...Nothing right now, but I really do plan on creating something by the next time I post!  I'd also like to create enough time to blog more!

I am going...To stay home this week-end and hopefully get my garden cleaned out.  I pulled up my squash and cucumbers on Monday and  picked the last of the string beans.  My tomatoes are finally starting to turn, so they get to stay until it gets too cold.  I still have carrots and beets in the ground, but I will get them pulled this week-end.  I have found some really interesting recipes using beets,  I can't wait to try a few of them.

I am reading... "The Cure", by Athol Dickson.  It's about a man who has lost everything and hears that there is a small town in Maine, where miracles happen.  Will he find his miracle? Sometimes, the disease isn't as dangerous as,  "the Cure"....  sounds mysterious doesn't it?
A scripture I'm sharing...

Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
 ~Acts 14:17~

I am hearing...Tom Jones singing on my computer!  Did anyone see Tom Jones on, Good Morning America?  I love Tom Jones!  Remember how women used to go crazy over him?  I can't believe how old he looks now - but- he still has that charming English accent, and boy, can he sing!

Around the house...Well, today I didn't do anything!

One of my favorite things...Oh, I have so many favorite things!  But, one of my favorite has to be...downloading music!  I have an external drive that I would love to fill with all of my favorite songs.  I have been accused of being a music junkie, and I hate to admit it, but, it's true...I love music!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Tomorrow - I'm getting my hair cut!
Friday - Weigh-in - keeping my fingers crossed.
Saturday - Cleaning out the garden and yard work.
Sunday - Church.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...
Don't forget to go out and look at the Harvest Moon tonight!!

But theres a full moon risin
Lets go dancin in the light
We know where the musics playin
Lets go out and feel the night.

Because Im still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because Im still in love with you
On this harvest moon.

Ooooh I shall be trying your chicken recipe this coming weekend Barb it sounds delish!
LOL at the bra story, I loathe bras. A properly fitted bra is sheer bliss compared to a guestimate one off the rack hey!

Hugs n luv

Please enjoy that delicious Autumn scent candle, a bit more, for me! I so miss being able to have scent, in the house. No more, or they tickle our allergies. -le sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh-

You have lost weight, my Dear. Of course you needed a new bra. And good for your daughter, *driving* you to get one. :-)

Wonderful pic of Harvest Moon!

Happy Mabon, Autumn Equinox, and Full Harvest Moon!

I just got new bras recently too. Mine were really worn out too. I also need to clean up my garden, but I'm really lazy about that sort of thing. Thankfully the front gets done by the landscapers here, but the back is our responsibility. I'm giving up weighing myself daily. I'm going to just weight twice a week. The scale keeps getting stuck. I missed the Harvest Moon. I forgot about it. Did you see it. Linda

Happy Spring!
