Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY - September 16,2010

Outside my window... I can't believe that we are having another beautiful September day!  The sky is blue, a few feathery clouds,  a stiff breeze is blowing the pine trees around, but we are suppose to get into the high 80's today, so the breeze will feel nice.

I am praying for... For my son and his dear wife.   Her sweet baby girl was killed at a daycare 2 years ago, on the day before Thanksgiving.   Hannah was only 18 months old.   The daycare provider was charged with Involuntary Manslaughter.  The judge that was hearing the case, ordered her to have a  jury trial, but it has been postponed and rescheduled for over a year.  Today, they have a mediation hearing - hopefully, they will  make some decisions about the jury trial date, or if there will even be a jury trial.   I cannot even imagine how extremely difficult it is going to be for both of them.   Diana is a strong woman, but, she is also a mom,  who lost the love and companionship of her little daughter way too soon.  She desperately  needs to have closure, and peace that comes with it.   Today, I will be praying that they will find that comfort and peace.

I am thankful for...  Prayer.

A scripture I am sharing...

Peace I leave with you, my  peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled,  neither let it be afraid.
~John 14:27~

From the kitchen... I have not had a chance to think about cooking this week.  Although, I did make and freeze two quarts of fresh apple juice and made a batch of applesauce out of some wonderful apples that a neighbor gave me.  Yummmmmy!

I am wearing...
Denim capri's, and a blue and white striped t-shirt.

I am creating... Trying to create a wonderful Autumn atmosphere in my home!  I'm going to get my Fall decorations out today and make my house cozy and warm...:0)

I am going... To stay home today and clean my computer room!

I am reading... Fly Lady!!  I really need to get back into a routine with my housework.  I think that Fall is a good time to do that.  I like to follow her holiday routine - it really does work!

I am hoping... That I didn't do to terrible when I weigh in tomorrow, it's been a hard couple of weeks.  If I gain, it will be the first gain I've had since I started my diet.  So far. . . 45 pounds.  I think that Fall is a hard time to diet,  I seem to change my eating habits when the weather starts to get cold.  Plus, I'm not as active - I really need to exercise more!

I am hearing... The wind blowing through the pine trees - I like that sound.

Around the house... Clean the computer room, make bread, finish the laundry, poke around in my garden, put up my Fall decorations.

One of my favorite things... Hanging out with my little sis!  Yesterday we went to lunch and then shopping.  It was so fun!!  I just needed to visit with her yesterday - I seem to struggle this time of year, so just talking and laughing seems to make me feel better.  Thanks Karen... :-)

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Babysit three of my sweet little grandchildren tonight.
Tomorrow - Dr. appointment for hubby and weigh-in!
Saturday - My grandson's football game.
Sunday - Church.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

I'm sorry to hear about your daughter in laws loss. It would be good to just get it over with wouldn't it. I'll pray for them too. We're grey today and lightly raining on and off. It's not really cold though. I got my decorating done will be posting pictures soon. What diet are you on? Linda

Life can be so cruel and testing at times can't it! Your DIL is so lucky to have you as her mother in law. Loving family support can make all the difference when the going gets tough.

Much love to you all.

I always enjoy reading your daybook, Barb. I am so sorry about your daughter in law's loss, and that she is yet to have closure. I will pray that this will soon happen, and that she will find comfort.

You are so blessed to have your sister, nearby, and to be able to spend special time with her. My sis. lives a little farther away and we don't get to go out together much, but I am so thankful for the telephone, we do get to chat though.
As far as the weather, I am so glad you are getting a break, and am able to enjoy the change. I really think fall is just around the corner for us too. I have been planning to put out my decorations for a week, but something seems to happen to slow it down. lol. Hopefully by this weekend. I am looking forward to you sharing yours.
I had to smile about weight loss being harder this time of year, as I made that apple pie the other day, and certainly had my share of it. lol. Good luck on your weigh in.
Hugs,
Sue

Your blog is so peaceful, like a quiet retreat on the internet!

What a difficult time this must be for your daughter in law; such a terrible loss. There just are no words...

I, too, am working on weight loss, which I've blogged about. You are an inspiration at 45 pounds!

But as to your Health Accomplishments, you are wonderful! It's good to realize that the change of seasons, has a large effect on us. Knowing this, gives you a head start on not letting some of your hard-earned progress, slip away.

Dear Barb, I linked to this post, here in my blog today.

Your mentioning how your eating/activity wants, change when colder weather comes... Set me to thinking. So when I touched on this topic, I linked to you, who brought it to my mind.

My prayers and thoughts will be with you and your sweet Chris and his family. I can't imagine how hard this would be. I know that they will receive the comfort of the Savior through it all. I don't know if you will be at Christian's game on Wednesday; I am trying to go to that one while Roger goes to Austins. If so I will give you a big hug; because I love you!
I loved your thoughts and I always love reading about what you are up too.
Thanks for all the sweet comments that you make on my blog; you are such a dear.
Have a good day my dearest friend. Hugs and love to you! LeAnn

Oh Barb - how very tragic and heartbreaking for your sweet DIL! I hope that things go well with that case and that she will be able to put this event away. I know she'll never forget, but perhaps with her husband, her family and the Lord, she will find peace and comfort and rest and know that her baby is with the Lord.

Jean capris, hmmm. My favorite - I bought 5 pair of the same exact jean capris. Top those with a Tshirt and I'm good to putter around the house, Walmart, etc.

Happy Spring!
