Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY ~ August 26, 2010

Outside my window...  It is such a beautiful day!  The sky is crystal blue, not a cloud to be seen.  There is just a slight breeze blowing, just enough to blow through the window every now and again and make the curtains dance!  But, that will all change this afternoon.  We are suppose to have 20 to 30 mile an hour winds, which will blow smoke our way,  from a huge wildfire that is burning in Central Idaho.   It's also suppose to be hot today,  around 90 degrees,  just another beautiful summer day here in Idaho!  The nights are cooling off, and it's so nice to turn off the air, and sleep with the windows open when we can.

I am thinking... What a fun time I had with my daughters and grandchildren and my sister, her daughters, and her grandchildren!  We went to the park and had a picnic, then went to the zoo.  I, of all people, forgot my camera!  I could not believe it!  It's usually not very far from my reach, but today, I guess I just got too busy and forgot it.   So pictures will have to come later.

I am thankful for... Children~I had so fun with my little grandchildren  yesterday at the zoo!  We didn't have Brody, he started school yesterday, and we missed him.  But, they are the light of my life, such good kids.  They make their grandma very happy!

From the learning rooms...

'If the person you are talking to doesn't appear to be listening, be patient. It may simply be that he has a small piece of fluff in his ear.'
~Pooh~

From the kitchen... Today - Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas - the recipe is on my blog!  It is one of my favorite recipes!

I am wearing... Tan capris and an black and white, kind of animal print shirt  . . . grrrrrrr!

I am creating... Hopefully memories for my grandchildren and my children.  It's so important to my to make sure that my family knows how much they mean to me.  Not just because I tell them, but because I show them.

I am going... To go get my hair cut !  I really can't stand it when my hair does not do what I want it to do!  I've always been pretty fussy,  picky  particular about my hair.

I am reading... Almost done with my book - From Sea, to Shining Sea!  Going to the library today to find something new and exciting!

I am hoping... That my daughter does not worry herself into hysteria over having to leave her children on their first day of school.  The school district moved the first day of school back 9 days, after she had already paid for, and made arrangements to go on a business trip with her husband.  I will be watching the kids at her home - but she is still just a nervous Nelly, and I'm excited!  I always loved the first day of school when my children were growing up - I couldn't wait to see their faces as they come running through the front door to tell me all about their day!  I hope I don't forget my camera!

I am hearing...  Soft music from my computer . . . and silence :0)  School started last week,  so the dirt bikes that were always going up and down the road to change pipe . . . are silent . . . ahhhhhhh.  But it won't last long - The county is  putting a new sewer line up our road!!!  We live in the country, so everyone has a septic tank . . . why, why why!  It will mean weeks and weeks of noisy gravel trucks and backhoes - I'm not excited!

Around the house...  I have been afflicted with some kind of strange cleaning bug, and I think it's contagious, as I know several people who have been infected!!!  I think the only cure is to clean every nook and corner, organize every drawer and get rid of anything that does not fit, or that I have not worn in more than a year.  The only medicine that I have found so far, that even makes it feel a little better is . . . Diet Vanilla Coke, yes, lots of caffine!

One of my favorite things... Post cards from Kimmie!!!  On Saturday, I received this cute postcard from Kimmie!  She is such a sweetheart,  you must go and take a peek at her blog!

My grandkids loved this postcard - they had lots of questions about Koala Bears and about Kimmie!  I can't wait to my post card to her in the mail!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Today - DUP meeting
Tomorrow - Weight Watchers
Saturday  - Work around the house
Sunday - Church  and go to my daughters to watch kids

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

The beautiful Blackfoot River

Saturday, we went fishing with Chris, Diana and Brody.  The fishing wasn't much good, but the company was!!

Most people think of Montana when they hear, "Blackfoot River".  But, this is the Blackfoot River in Idaho.  It is well known for it's big cutthroat Trout -  fisherman come from all over the country to fish it.  It's about an hour away from us, and oh, so beautiful!
Sit by a river. Find peace and meaning in the rhythm of the lifeblood of the Earth

It's grey and cold here today. It looks like it might rain, but hasn't so far. My house is clean but I have been so lethargic this summer and I'm not getting into that fall mode yet. Usually around this time of year I start to want to organize and declutter, but I'm just enjoying reading and doing a little here and there. The fishing sounds like it was fun. Have a great day. How fun that you get to do "first day of school" with Am's kids! I hope you all have a good time -- even Amber. :)
Also, I wish your cleaning bug would come infect me... I'm staring at a kitchen floor that is caked with dried on cereal from the last few weeks because I just cannot summon the energy to bring out the mop. sigh. Oh well... maybe next month?

Isn't it great to go to the zoo? And it's even better when you're with family. I love watching the grandchildren watch the animals and seeing their expressions. Sorry you forgot your camera. I don't envy you with all the sewer lines going in and the trucks. Couldn't believe how much dust and dirt seeped in my house a couple of years ago when they redid our roads in the subdivision. How lucky you are to spend these next few days with your grandchildren or I should say how lucky and blessed they are to have you with them. Think I need to be infected by your "bug" and do some early fall cleaning and organizing. Great Woman's Daybook entry! Nola

Barb,

You have a busy week! I hope the weather cools off soon. 90 degrees is too hot for my liking!

God bless you

Hi Barb,

Glad to see you posting! You are a busy gal. I'm still struggling with cleaning myself, I start something and quit..:) I've been trying to fight off another cold/virus...missed a couple of days of work this week...so I'm not really up to much cleaning this week. :(

Our weather has been so much better lately, too. At night, the temps drop to 50-55 so I'm able to turn off the a/c and raise windows.

I love your Pooh quote! :D

You'll be so glad when you get your haircut, I know I was and wished I'd done it sooner. It is so much easier to style, too. Make that appointment!

Have fun with the grands and don't forget the camera! We want pictures!

Hugs,
Cheryl

Best of luck with the hair trim!!!

Oh I hope you do not get the heat and winds, bringing smoke from a distance. Bye bye lovely blue skies. -le sigh-

We have blue skies and clear air and cooler temps here, and it is lovely. I won't *believe* that heat is returning, next week! Will not! Will not! Will not! Must keep positive attitude, when dealing with Mother Nature. ,-)))))))))
