Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY - August 10, 2010

Outside my window...  Cloudy, a slight breeze to cool it off a bit . . . this morning, it was very cool, in the lower 50's, and it felt really good to me.  It's only 81 degrees right now, so not too hot.  I'm loving these beautiful Indian Summer days - I could spend the whole day outside!

I am thinking... How lucky I was to win a wonderful giveaway from Nola at, http://just4rambling.blogspot.com/ !  Go check out her blog - she is an amazing quilter - I love to look at her beautiful creations!  And, she also a really beautiful person!

These are just the prettiest, already cut, quilt blocks!  I love the colors, they will go perfectly in my spare bedroom, which is decorated in yellow and blue.  I'm thinking about making a lap quilt, and pillow shams!  I'm not a quilter, but I would love to give it a go!  Thank you so much Nola!!  I hope to post whatever I make . . . well, we'll see how good it turns out :0)

I am thankful for...  Birthdays!  Our Sweet little Averi turned 8 years old yesterday - hooray!!!  Every birthday this sweet little child celebrates is a miracle - we didn't even think we would see her first birthday!!

(sorry about the photo - I forgot my camera and had to use my cell phone)
Averi got a new bike for her birthday - she loves it!  She zooms down the driveway as fast as she can go, and then sticks her feet out to stop . . .  right before she goes into the road - I don't know . . . there's just something funny to me about a blind child riding a bike?!  Of course she is never left alone!

Words I am pondering ...
"Life is full of difficulties, some minor and others of a more serious nature. There seems to be an unending supply of challenges for one and all. Our problem is that we often expect instantaneous solutions to such challenges, forgetting that frequently the heavenly virtue of patience is required."
~Thomas S. Monson

From the kitchen... I have a chicken roasting in the oven, fresh veggies from my garden, and homemade whole wheat bread . . . almost ready to put in the oven.
I am wearing... White capris, and a white shirt with pink flowers on it.

I am creating... Again . . . NOTHING . . . but soon . . . I now have quilt blocks!

I am going... I going to work really hard at getting my "To Do" list organized.  I really do have so much to get accomplished, it's just so hard in the Summer . . . so many other things to occupy my time!

I am hoping... Hummmmm . . . I heard once that - hope is faith, holding out it's hand in the dark.  I liked that quote.

I am hearing... The air-conditioner running, and James Taylor singing, "Sunny Skies".

Around the house... Well, I mowed the lawn this morning, and yes, Auntie, I was careful :0)

One of my favorite things... Fresh carrots from the garden!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

Lunch with my sis and mom tomorrow ~

Here is picture  I am sharing...

 Just me and my shadow!

I love your day book. I can just picture you doing the things you write about. I can't believe Averi is 8. She is so sweet. I can't wait to see the quilt finished, and I love the me and my shadow. So cute, just like you. See you tomorrow. Love you.

Happy Birthday to your sweet little Averi! Glad you are having cooler weather than we are! Thank God for central air, but it's been running almost non-stop...I hate to think what the electric bill will be!

Your quilt pieces are so pretty, I know you'll have fun with those. Love the colors!

Have a good rest of the week!

Hi Barb! How fun to find your blog -- Amber just told me you have one, and I loved seeing all the pics of your fam and especially the grandkids. They look just like Am, Chris, and Jessie growing up, to me! Big hugs for you and Bob. I love you both and think of you often.

Good luck on your quilt project -- I just started quilting this year, and find it very satisfying (though I'm no expert yet!). Your pieces look darling!
