Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

Meet other wonderful women here!

FOR TODAY  JULY 20, 2010

Outside my window... The sun is shining, THE WIND IS CALM!  My garden is growing, the lawn needs mowing . . .  and apparently the poet in me is trying to escape!?

I am thinking... How nice it is not to have any pain this morning.  I think I worked too hard yesterday and went to bed with some pain last night - but feeling much better today!

I am thankful for... Good friends and prayers . . . you all know who you are!

From the learning rooms... You can teach an old dog new tricks!

From the kitchen... I'm going to make egg muffins, McDonald style, to freeze.  My poor husband takes the same thing every morning to work for his breakfast, and this will be a nice change for him.   Here's what you do:  Make eggs, kind of omelet style, cut the eggs into small squares or use a round cutter, anything that works for you.  Then, put a piece of the egg on the bottom of an English Muffin,  then a piece of ham and a slice of cheese - any kind of cheese, any kind of ham.  Then, you wrap them, individually,  in waxed paper and put them in a baggie (I put two to a baggie).   Then I put them in a large, gallon size bag, and store them in the freezer.   When it is time to re-heat them, you just put the muffin on a plate, still in the waxed paper,  pop it in the microwave for about 40 seconds, depending on your oven and how thawed the muffin is.   It is best to do one at a time.   And there you have it!!!! Fast food!!

I am wearing... My pink fuzzy robe and my nightgown - kind of lazy today!

I am creating... The smell of clean clothes!!  My laundry is overflowing!

I am going... To get my list started for our camping trip on the 29th.  We are taking all the kids and going on a camping trip on the 29th of July, for 4 days.  It has been a long anticipated trip, originally planned for the 15th - but surgery got in the way!  So . . . I have lots of list- making to do.  It's mostly planned, but it's all the little things that need to get on a list!

I am reading... Still reading, From Sea to Shining Sea - it's a long book!

I am hoping... That I can get in to get my hair trimmed before we go camping - I hate it when it's out of control.

Also hoping that my sweet niece has her baby soon, and that all goes well.  She is due tomorrow - can't wait to meet him, he will be adorable!

I am hearing...  Soft music from my computer, cars going by, and . . . silence.

Around the house... Finish up the laundry, do the dishes, straighten-up a bit, water the outside flower pots, make a few phone calls, write a few thank-you notes, think about what to have for supper.

One of my favorite things... Sitting on the patio on a day like today - letting the sun shine on me and warm me up!  Listen to the birds sing and just "feel" morning.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Lunch with mom and sis tomorrow!
Get a few things for the trailer before camping trip.
Make my lists!
Take it easy, so that I am ready, physically.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

(This is a picture of the place we will be camping, just up the road is a beautiful little lake that the kids love to fish in!)

"How hard to realize that every camp of men or beast has this glorious starry firmament for a roof!  In such places standing alone on the mountain-top it is easy to realize that whatever special nests we make - leaves and moss like the marmots and birds, or tents or piled stone - we all dwell in a house of one room - the world with the firmament for its roof - and are sailing the celestial spaces without leaving any track."  ~John Muir

Sounds like you are doing great and I'm glad you're not having too much pain. Just don't over do! Thanks for sharing the recipe. Think I'll make some up and stick in the freezer for those morning when I'm on the run!
Camping with your family sounds so fun. Isn't it wonderful when we can share those times together? Nola

So glad you are feeling better. Please take it easy. If possible, share that "to do" list with others.

Barb,

Love your week. I hope you have a wonderful camping trip! And I am definitely going to have to try that egg muffin recipe! One question though - do you toast the english muffin before you add the egg/ham/cheese?

Hugs!
