Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY  June 15, 2010

Outside my window... The sun is shining, but that will be short lived . . . we are expecting a storm to come in by afternoon, heavy clouds, thunderstorms, rain, hail and very high winds.  Summer is trying to make an appearance, she's just shy.

I am thinking... that I just broke one of my own rules of not eating at the computer!  I try really hard NOT to do that, because it is so mindless and you tend to eat more.  But, this morning, it just felt right!  Fresh fruit with wheat berries and yogurt, yummy!

I am thankful for... the sunshine!  Yesterday was a beautiful day so I spent most of it outside working in the yard, watering the garden, cleaning off the patio, painting my patio furniture and cleaning my patio chair covers.  It felt so good to be warmed by the sun!

From the learning rooms... My mother tells the story about how she was looking for a job, and a man she knew asked her if she knew how to keep books.  She had no idea how to keep books, but needed the job, so she said, "yes,  I can keep books."  She learned how to keep books by looking at what the other person had done, then improved it!  This quote reminds me of her.

Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em, 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it ~ Theodore Roosevelt

From the kitchen... I think I will make Fajitas for dinner tonight.  Yesterday, Jessica bought me the most wonderful flour tortillas from Bajios, a really good Mexican restaurant in town, they are so good!  they are really big, probably 12 inches across -  they will last us a long time!

I am wearing... PJ's - not feeling like getting dressed this morning!

I am creating... not really creating anything, but, we are putting new lighting in some of our rooms, so we will be tearing out the old lighting in the kitchen - so, I will be creating a mess!

I am going... to the doctor on Wednesday.  I went in and had an ultra-sound, and they found that I do have gallstones!  So, tomorrow I have a doctor appointment to find out when I can get in to have surgery to remove the gallbladder.  I'm not looking forward to surgery, but it will be good to be rid of the pain.

I am reading... I just finished The Porter Rockwell Chronicles, Vol. I.  So, I am starting on Vol. II.  Porter Rockwell is quite a character!!

I am hoping... that I can get a lot accomplished today - I have a whole list of things that I need  to get done, housework mostly.  I find that making a list really helps me stay on task.

I am hearing... Sweet music from my playlist - at least a million birds singing in the trees, Cole, barking at an invisible cat and a car going by.

Around the house... The first thing on my list today is to vacuum behind my bed and bed tables.  Change my bed, dust and clean off my dresser and finish my laundry.  Then, vacuum and clean the stairs and family room downstairs.  Then, sort through the kids toys and get rid of the things they don't play with. . . this is just the start of my list, I have a lot of work to do!

One of my favorite things
... seeing my children happy and content with life!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Today - clean up
Tomorrow - Dr. appointment, lunch with mom and sis.
Thursday - Start the lighting project, yeah!
Friday - Lights, mow the lawn, if it's not too wet!  Make rolls to bring to baby shower.
Saturday - Go to my beautiful nieces baby shower!
Sunday - Church

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

So sorry about the gallstones! Hope you get them taken care of quickly and easily.

It's raining again here, too. When will it ever end?

Have a good day!

Wow, busy day. Sorry to hear about the gallstones. Keep us posted, please. We had a sunny weekend, but it rained all day yesterday and is rather gloomy today.

Busy day! Those are good though. If I don't have much to do, I tend to be lazy and idle. Hmm..Can't wait to see you on Saturday!

I love to read your daybook. You are always so busy. I remember the story of mom and the job. It always made an impression on me that I could do something, anything really. I think dad kind of taught us that too with all the things he invented and built. See you tomorrow. love you, Karen

I liked your post about the flag, very interesting. I see a lot of people break those rules and I doubt if many people know them all. Your mom sounds like a savy lady. I'm glad to hear you got some sun, it's been grey here again and it's suppose to rain today, but I'm going to try and get a walk in before it does. Linda

Barb, I so love your posting about your day. You lift me and then I want to do more than I usually do; this is good.
I am getting excited to see our children on Sunday.
I hope you can get the gallbladder surgery soon. The way they do it now is so non invasive and you are up and about quickly.
Blessings and hugs to you as you go through your week. LeAnn
