Rolly Poly . . .

I love fresh, homemade rolls right out of the oven, don't you?  Today, my niece asked me for my roll recipe - so I thought I would share it with everyone!  I really should not be eating too many rolls, but, once in a while won't hurt anyone . . . one of life's little pleasures!

Dinner Rolls

1-1/2 cups water                                        1/2 cup sugar
2 Tbls. yeast                                                1-1/4 cup warm milk
1/2 cup butter                                             1 Tbls. salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten                                7-9 cups flour

Combine water, sugar and yeast.  Mix to dissolve; set aside.  Heat milk and butter just until it is warm enough to soften and melt the butter (I like to cut mine in cubes).   When the milk mixture is cool enough, mix together with the yeast mixture, add salt, eggs and flour.  Mix until you have a very soft, yet workable dough - don't put in too much flour -  start with just a few cups, then add as needed.  You want the dough to be just a little bit sticky, but firm enough to hold it's shape.  With this recipe you don't need to knead it too much.  Rub a little olive oil onto the dough, cover and let rise until double (I let mine rise twice).  Punch down,  shape as desired using a tiny bit of oil on your hands, just so it does not stick.  Let rise until double.  Bake at 375 degrees between 12-18 minutes, depending on your oven.  Don't over bake - bake until the top just starts to turn golden brown.  Brush with melted butter when they come out of the oven and enjoy!

Many Rolly Poly Hugs,

Hi Barb - thanks for coming by! And thanks so much for sharing your roll recipe! I can smell them from Texas -- will have to make these sometime soon. I've got fresh plum jelly I just put up and it would be wonderful on those rolls with a big dollop of butter! I feel roly-poly just lookin' at 'em! You have a great week! Vickie

I'm writing about your playlist....love your choice of music. Everyday, after looking at your blog site, I minimize your site so I can listen to your music while surfing the web and looking at other blog sites. Thanks for the beautiful music....lifts my spirit everyday.

Thanks to all who stop by and see me! I love reading my comments! The rolls are very yummy, and yes, too many might make you rolly poly! But life is short, even though I am eating differently these days, I still like to enjoy some of the foods I love, like hot rolls. Every single time I eat a hot roll, I think of my mother and grandmother - wonderful memories . . .

I also love my playlist, for me this music is very relaxing - it lifts my spirits too - I'm so glad that you enjoy it!

Big Hugs,
Barb

Hi Barb,
Love the look of your blog! Very pretty. Thank you for sharing the recipe for your rolls. They look delicious! I love the smell of fresh baked rolls (or bread). I've never tried to make them before. I'll give it a try before it gets too hot here.

Have a wonderful evening! :)

Hi Barb,
Thanks for sharing this dinner rolls recipe, I will try it, and I agree once in a while is okay.
I read your last post, and I will put your surgery on my prayer list. I enjoyed reading about your renovation project, We have ceiling fans in all of our bedrooms and enjoy them very much. So I know you are going to enjoy yours. Remodeling makes a mess, but it is worth all of the effort. So enjoy yours.
Hugs,
Sue

Hi Barb! I love rolls and I can't wait to try out this recipe. Don't tell anyone, but I've never had much luck with homemade bread/rolls, so I just cheat and buy the frozen ones or Sara Lee's. Maybe this recipe will be the one that changes everything! Thanks for sharing.

Take care,
Cheryl

Barb, I just wanted to thank you for your comments on my blog. They are always so positive. It makes my day. You Rolly Poly's sound wonderful, but not something I can eat. I was having Vertigo and it seems to be pretty much gone. I have some other health issues I'm dealing with, that's one reason for losing weight. Linda
