A few favorite recipes . . .

When I was a young girl, my parents had a good friend who was a wonderful cook.  Everything she made was wonderful, but she did make the best salad dressings.  Her name was Bonnie, and we just loved her, she was always so cheerful and always had a smile and a hug for you.  She was tragically killed in a snow mobile accident, many, many years ago, but still thought of today, with much love.

She made the best buttermilk and French dressing . . . thought I'd share her recipes with you today, they are two of our favorite dressing recipes, hope you enjoy them.

Bonnie's Buttermilk Dressing

1 quart buttermilk
1 quart mayonnaise
2 - 8oz. packages cream cheese
2 tsp. garlic salt
2 tsp. onion salt
2 tsp. seasoned pepper
1 Tbls. dried parsley
2 tsp. Accent (optional - I never use it)

Mix together in a blender or food processor.  If you like a thick dressing, start with half the buttermilk and add slowly to desired consistency.  Keeps well for about two weeks.

Bonnie's French Dressing

1/2 c. vinegar
1 1/2 c. canola oil or salad oil (I only use 1 cup)
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. garlic salt
1 tsp. onion salt
1 tsp dry mustard
1/2 tsp. paprika
2 tsp. salt
1 c. catchup
1 - 10 3/4 oz. can tomato soup

Mix together in blender or food processor.  Keeps well for several weeks, if it lasts that long.

For the rehearsal dinner, we are having pulled pork on rolls, bow tie pasta salad, a big green salad, a variety of chips, and cheese cake for dessert.  Because we already know the bride's family, it will be very informal, but fun, so, this should be easy to put together.  I will make both of these dressings for the green salad that night.  Yum!

Have a wonderful day all!

Warm hugs,

Thank you for posting the recipes. I forgot about the french dressing. Yum. I am making the buttermilk dressing today for family council on Sunday. Let me know what I can do to help with the wedding. Love you.

Thanks for all the lovely comments!! Oh, how I love my family . . . what would we do without them? I will let you know if I need anything. We will probably just need help the night of the reception taking down tables and chairs. It's fun to be the the parent's of the groom, I don't have to worry about the reception - of course I will do anything they need me to do to help them though. Love you all.
