Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

You can check out what others are thinking at

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... The sun is shining, the sky is blue, it's cold, and there is a skiff of snow in the shadows and on the patio furniture. We need the moisture here in Idaho, so I guess it's alright. But, I am still looking forward to warmer weather!

I am thinking... About what I should do today. My sweet husband stayed home from work - a little break - and today is the day I usually spend with my mom and sister. I think I will put if off until tomorrow, since I spent last evening with my mom and sister, because it was my mom's birthday. Weird thoughts for today!

I am thankful for... The power of prayer. I've said it before, prayers go up, blessings come down.

From the learning rooms
... It seems like I learn something new everyday. It may not be from a book or from a scholar, but from ordinary people who touch my life on a daily basis . . . in some of the most unsuspecting ways.

From the kitchen... I haven't given this one much thought! We went out to dinner last night and I had such yummy food - pecan pear salad, broiled honey-lemon chicken on a bed of jasmine rice, garlic broccoli and wonderful scones with honey butter. Then to top it off, white cake with chocolate frosting and chocolate chip mint ice cream (low fat). Did I mention I was on a diet?

I am wearing... I'm feeling lazy today - I'm still in my housecoat, pink and fluffy and comfy.

I am creating... I haven't been very creative lately - I have several projects in mind, but haven't started on anything yet.

I am going... To find out what hubby wants to do today - it's nice to have him home with me.

I am reading... Still reading, "The Lovely Bones". It's a fun mystery novel. I'm not sure I want to see the movie after reading the book.

I am hoping... That I haven't spoiled my diet - I need to stick to my plan!!

I am hearing... Let's see . . . Harry Neilsson singing "Coconut". Crazy! Also, the T.V. in the kitchen, my husband rambling around, the dog wanting out, cars going by, and the soft buzz of the computer. Kind of noisy around here today.

Around the house... Well - it needs a good vacuuming. I'm not used to having a dog around! I also need to do laundry and just straighten things up today.

One of my favorite things... I just love to sit and visit with good friends or family. I don't always need to have an agenda or a plan; I believe that we get too caught up in schedules and time . . . life is too short for that.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

I would love to see my girls and my grandchildren - they live close, so that should not be hard, but sometimes it is!

Finish some mending and ironing.

Last year I bought some beautiful fabric to make a jacket - it's still in the fabric drawer! I think I'll tackle that job . . .

Maybe do an Easter craft . . . something with eggs . . . not sure what yet.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing
...

I'm looking forward to getting my garden planted - this is a picture of the garden last year. We don't have a huge garden, but we get lots of produce from this little spot!

"She (or he!) who plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see a plant, believes in God."

Have a wonderful day!

Hugs and Blessings,

Your dinner from last night sounds yummy. RYC Dark chocolate is one of the things I can eat without too much damage to my blood sugars, so I like to nibble on a little when I need a fix. I don't know how I got so many kinds. lol. Thanks for your comments and Happy Birthday to your mom. My gd is coming today so we will probably cook together and watch Return to Candleford on dvd. YHi Barb,
Yay for gardens! Your garden is beautiful. What all did you plant? Also, is that hay in between the rows?

So true! "The power of prayer. I've said it before, prayers go up, blessings come down." I love it!

Lovely post! Where did you eat? I'm coming down there! (I wish.) Four excuses - one to meet you, to eat out, see visit other friends and family, and to see the scenery.

Yes, we need moisture. Scary, too, is that the river is already up and the forsythia is in bloom. Way, way, way too early.

Hey Barb - I love your garden photo - it looks so lush and healthy. Yes, you can get alot of produce out of even a small garden.

I have a question tho --- I didn't know "castings" was a taboo word. I guess I said something I shouldn't. It sounded better than some others I've heard, so correct me please if I"m wrong. It was just too funny for me to pass up! tee-hee!
