The Simple Woman's Daybook . . .

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...  It's dark and wet today.  The weatherman says rain all day, but warmer tomorrow, that makes  me very happy.  I am one of those people who like to help Mother Nature along by chopping up the snow and throwing it on the grass!  I can't wait to sit on the patio and soak up the morning sun.

I am thinking... That I should call my neighbor, she fell down in her yard yesterday and bruised herself up pretty bad.  She is one of my best friends, one of my treasures!  Her birthday is on April 1st,  she will be 94!  I love her so very much.  So, I'll call her this morning to make sure she is doing alright and to see if she needs anything.

I am thankful for... My testimony of the Savior, for His friendship.  I love the words to the song, "What a Friend we have in Jesus", they ring very true for me today.
What a friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit,
Oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!

Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful,
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness;
Take it to the Lord in prayer.

Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer!
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there.

Blessed Savior, Thou hast promised
Thou wilt all our burdens bear;
May we ever, Lord, be bringing
All to Thee in earnest prayer.
Soon in glory bright, unclouded,
There will be no need for prayer—
Rapture, praise, and endless worship
Will be our sweet portion there.

From the learning rooms...Don't we learn something new everyday?

From the kitchen...I will be gone today, but, I will put something in the crockpot.  I love to come home and have it smell like I have been home all day . . . cooking!

I am wearing...Jeans and an off white sweater . . . no shoes . . . yet.

I am creating...I'm not really creating anything right now, although, I am going to buy some yarn today so that I can start crocheting granny squares.  I just love the simple country look of granny squares!

I am going...to go to lunch and shopping with my mother and my sister.  My mom is in her 80's and she really loves this day out!  We only live about 15 miles from each other, so it's all good!

I am reading...nothing right now, although, I was looking at my bookcase the other day and I need to dust my books, does that count?

I am hoping...that I lose weight on Friday - I know, that's kind of a strange thing, but I have been working very hard this week!! 10.6 pounds so far!

I am hearing...the birds singing in the pine trees in the front yard, and silence . . . just the hum of my computer and the clicking of the keyboard.  That is very unusual for me, as I almost always have music playing somewhere in my house.

Around the house... it's quiet.  I remember when it was filled with noise and chatter, but those days are gone for me.  Sometimes I miss it, but to everything there is a season . . .

One of my favorite things...it would have to be hugs and kisses from my grandkids!

A few plans for the rest of the week:

1.  As always, plan a menu - my daughters and I have each planned 24 meals for our diet, a good three months worth, so I need to get together with them and get that organized.

2.  We bought a new trailer last Fall, and it hasn't even left the yard!  I plan on cleaning and organizing it this week-end, sounds fun!

3.  Pick out tile and paint for the downstairs bathroom and guest bedroom re-do.  Any good ideas?

Here is picture I am sharing...
You can tell what I'm thinking . . .
and see what other women are thinking today.

Have a wonderful and safe day!

Blessings,

Aunt Amelia - I just love to see your sweet face! I did check on my neighbor, she was doing just fine - a little sore, but up and taking nourishment, as she would say! I did have a good time with my mom and sis - we always have fun. I will share some of the menus, we will have fun putting them together - onward and "downward"! Hugs

Jess - Can't wait to see your menus, you are such a good cook, I know they will be great! Love you
