Grow old with me . . .

I hope you will all humor me as I post my old paintings.  I am doing this for posterity - as Packrat , pointed out, I need to do *something*, so something, I'm doing.

This is a painting that I did in high school, I don't remember the year, probably about 1972.  We were suppose to depict the aging process . . . I was 16,  what on earth did I know about the aging process.  But I gave it my best shot.

Today,  The Feathered Nest,  had the most beautiful quote by, George Washington Carver.  I thought it went perfectly with this painting~

How far you go in life depends on
your being tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic with the striving
and tolerant of the weak and the strong.
Because someday in life
you will have been all of these.

~ George Washington Carver ~

Warm hugs to all,

Wow, that is so moving, especially with the beautiful music of Thomas Newman in the background. I love it. I remember that painting that you did. It is beautiful. On my blog you mentioned the Mary Kay eye make-up remover. That is what I used also, but decided it was to expensive. When I found this recipe, the lady said it was as good as Mary Kay, and I agree. It really works well and only costs pennies to make. I love the George Washington Carver quote. It really made me think. Love you. See you tomorrow.

Karen - Isn't it funny that you remember these paintings? They have been put away and out of mind for so long . . . I had even forgotten them. I can't wait to try the eye makeup remover, remind me to buy the things to make it tomorrow.

That quote really made me stop and think too. We all have good and bad moments in our lives - thank you for being there for me during both. Love you.

I love to see your old painting because it reminds me just how talented you are! You are an amazing person and I think to older we get to easier it is to see our talents and tap into them a little easier. Love you Mom!

Jess - Hi, I think it's easier to see that we need to use our talents, the older we get - or we will lose them. So, keep using yours! You are also amazing, just being a mom is a talent these days, and you are an amazing mom! Love you

That is so cool to see your perspective from back when you were younger. That is an amazing painting and I love the quote... wow. It is always fun to look back on what you have done in the past. Love, Laura

Laura - Thanks for stopping! I certainly don't see things the same way as I did when I was 16, but, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The quote says it all doesn't it? Hope you are feeling good, can't wait to see you. Love you.

I think your 16 year old self did an amazing job with that assignment. And I'm so glad you saved these examples of your early art work.

Not sure if I missed something but... Are you still doing art work? Or intend to do so? I hope the answer is Yes. [Perhaps you'll inspire me to try again... My husband always wants me to, but I don't...]

Auntie - Thank you for the nice complement! I hate to admit it, but, I have not painted for a very long time! I do intend on trying my hand at it again, I will probably have to take an art class at this point. I have recently done a couple of charcoal drawings. I'm looking forward to painting again. Try again - we can do it together! Hugs

Oh Barb - you did a beautiful job!!! You have so much talent, please do not waste it! You simply MUST paint! I must admit I've been remiss in painting, myself, but I'm not going to give up trying to find time between working, taking care of aging parents, the farm, etc. We MUST use our talents for the Lord has given us this great gift! Please show us more of your works, and thanks again for the nice compliment on my painting giveaway! Perhaps we can inspire & encourage each other!

Have a lovely day!

I agree with the others. You can see the talent in this picture. Either you have it or you don't and you do. I think we have different seasons in our life and maybe this is the season for you to pick up your art. Linda

Vickie - Thanks for dropping by and thank you for the nice compliments! When my kids were small I kind of dropped my painting and artwork, because, life happened! As I am growing older, I have more time to think about my art - but then, life happens! I have an aging mother, my wonderful grandchildren and children, summer is almost here, yada yada yada . . . But, that's no excuse to ignore what God has been prompting me to do. You actually inspired me with your artwork - you are so extremely talented!

I like the idea of encouraging each other! Let's do it!

Hugs,

Barb

Barb, that painting is beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us and hope you post more. So, now, this means I have to get busy doing something. (It will not be painting or drawing. lol)

Hi Cindy-Sue!

Yes, this means you have to do something now - tehehe . . . thanks for stopping, it's always good to see you. I will post pictures as I run across them, I'm not very organized, so I find things in bits and pieces - oh well, that's just me!

Hugs,
Barb
