The Simple Woman' Daybook . . .

I'm excited to join in the Simple Woman's Daybook!  I started my blog as a journal, but soon found that it is so much more, so, on Monday it will be a little more like journaling in it's true fashion.  If any of you are interested in joining in on the fun, please go to:

FOR TODAY...February 22, 2010

Outside my window...It is very cold, the sun is shining, but this morning it was -3 degrees when I got out of bed.  Right now, it's 18 degrees, brrrrrr!  We still have snow on the ground, I probably have about 4 inches in my yard.

I am thinking...about all of the things that I need to do today, and I don't feel like doing them.  I have a bad cold, and I think it would be nice to just rest.

I am thankful for... I am always thankful for my family, but today I am also very thankful for: warm houses, week-ends, good music, comfortable chairs, a good bed, and Vicks VapoRub.

From the kitchen...  I think I will make beef stew and let it simmer all day - nothing like comfort food when you don't feel well.

I am wearing... my pajamas and a fluffy, pink fleece house coat.  I can't get enthused about getting dressed this morning.

I am creating... little stuffed birds made from fabric.  I have a real love for birds and so I am making them to decorate with.

I am going... to stay home today.  Although I should go to the store to get cold medication.  I think I will have my hubby do that on his way home from work.

I am reading...  a collection of short stories by Louis L'Amour - The Frontier Stories.  I love his books.  My husband's father loved to read and had a huge collection of Louis L'Amour books - after he passed away, we got quite a few of them, my husband treasures them.

I am hoping... that my grandchildren are feeling better, they have also had this virus.  If I feel this bad, I can imagine how horrible they must feel!

I am hearing... Michael Buble singing,  "You and I" - love to hear him sing.  I am also hearing my clock ticking in the background and the gentle hum of my computer.

Around the house...I will be doing some laundry and some light cleaning.  I know there is so much more to do, but I think it will wait until I'm feeling better.

One of my favorite things...
Bengal Spice tea - it is soooo good.

A few plans for the rest of the week:

 *  Plan my menu for the week, this is a must!

 *  Hoping to go to lunch with my sweet sister tomorrow.   It's been a while since I've seen her and I am excited to get to visit with her and catch up on life.

Here is picture for thought I am sharing...

The miracles of nature do not seem like miracles, because they are so common. If no one had ever seen a flower, even a dandelion would be the most startling event in the world.

I do hope you and the grands feel better soon.

After seeing the temp at your house, I feel bad about complaining. (It was 19 when I got up this morning.)

The picture looks like it was taken near here. Mountain meadows are so beautiful, and the wild flowers are so delicate looking.

THat sounds similar to my day. I think that I have the same thing. Just a nasty cold. I'm still in my pajamas and not motivated to do anything. I'm doing laundry, but that's just because it needs to get done. We must be on the same, head cold, brain wave today! Love you. hope you get better soon!

I love that picture! I sometimes see pictures like that and wished that I could live there...funny thing is, is that I DO!! I just need to get and enjoy it and search for it more often...a goal of mine this summer!

I love reading about what you are doing. What a great idea. I hope you start feeling better soon. I really want to do lunch tomorrow, but we can do it Wednesday or Thursday if you need. Do you need me to do anything for you today?
Love you.

Hi Barb,
I hope you are feeling better soon. Take it easy, and get lots of rest. My husband is a big fan of Louis L'Amour. He has many of his books. Beef stew sounds yummy! Take care...

Hi Barb,
I am sorry you are not well, I will pray that you are feeling better soon. I think we all will be so much better once the weather breaks.
I always enjoy reading The Simple Woman's Daybook, and used to have one but somehow got away from it. I so enjoyed reading yours, enjoy your time with your sister, I miss mine, we don't get to see each other to often as she lives in another town.
Blessings, and Hugs,
Sue
