Old Loves . . .

I was eating breakfast, daydreaming, thinking about Spring - and happened to glance over at my china closet. I realized that there were so many ~old loves~ that were hidden away, clear  in the back - I could not even see some of them!  So, I decided that today would be the day that I rearranged, and brought some of them to the front, so that I could see them,  love them and enjoy them again.
These two little people are two of my favorite pieces, aren't they precious!  I found them at a friends garage sale, she passed away earlier this winter, so they have special meaning to me.  I think they were used as book ends.  I really love them!
They have a few problems, like - someone filled them with plaster (groan) and they have more than a few cracks, but they are truly ~ old loves~
This is an old tea pot that my mother gave to me.  She said she got it as a wedding present, I just adore it!  I have forgotten about it though, because it was clear in the back of my china closet, so she's coming to the front, maybe I'll use her more, another ~old love~

This is my cookie jar - he does not have a place in the china closet, because he sits on my counter.  I really do love him!  I got him at a thrift shop for $5.00, years ago.  He has lost most of his paint and is not as handsome as he was in his day, but I still love him!  He is one of my favorite ~old loves~

So, aren't these ~old loves~ of mine, just like us?  They are treasured because of their timeless beauty, just as we are.  We have a few problems because of age, some of  paint is gone and we have more than a few cracks (wrinkles!).  But, just like us, they grow more beautiful and are more priceless with age.  I hope that when I am gone, my children will cherish and take care of my ~old loves~

Blessings,

I love all your old friends. Yes I think the signs of age really make pieces like this more lovely and interesting. I've got more than a few cracks myself but I felt very loved and cherished this birthday. Linda

Gina - I love the teapot also, doesn't she just look like a grandma? Thanks for stopping.

Kimmie - I have that problem too, my old loves are my favorite! Including my husband! Thanks for checking in.

You noticed your "old loves," again. That's kind of how I can view this post. And it goes right along with another post I just read... Encouraging us to notice the beauty around us [even on a dull and sloppy Winter day]. Nice theme, we have going here. :-)

I'll be honest and say I don't remember if you changed your blog look recently or not. It's soothing and soft and looking-ahead-to-Spring-ish though. Changed or not. :-)

Dear Barb, what a wonderful analogy. Love your old items.

Aunt Amelia - Beauty is everywhere, I guess on days like this, we just have to look harder! And yes, I did change my blog, we girls just need a change sometimes, thanks for stopping.

Packrat - I do love my old things, I guess that's why I don't really feel inclined to get new stuff very often. Good to see you.

Finally April~

I know, I'm a little late, but I finally made it! Outside my window ~   I can't even tell you how happy I am that April is here!  ...
