Is it Monday . . . again?

It seems like Mondays just keep coming around and I keep having great plans for the week that somehow get foiled.  Not by anything in particular, I just somehow seem to get off track easily!  So, my plan is to do whatever I can get done and not worry about the rest - I'm not going to try to live by a schedule!  I've tried so many different schedules and plans, they just don't seem to work for me.  I think it's a great idea if you are the kind of person who can commit to a schedule, but, alas, I'm not that person (sigh).  The more I try to stick to someone else's schedule, the more behind I get.  It stresses me out if I don't do everything just the way that I am suppose they want me to do it, I have been told that I am a perfectionist, that may have something to do with it.   I have my own quirky schedule that I stick to, I'm not so committed to it that it can't be changed around if I need it to be.  Today will be simple, the normal everyday things like, making the bed, doing the dishes, cleaning the bathrooms, vacuuming and dusting, sweep the floor, finish the laundry (one load).  Now, does that sound like too much?  I don't think so.  In between all of that, I will putter around with some odd jobs, like, mending,  going through some genealogy, cleaning out a drawer or two, try a new crochet pattern and put dinner in the crock-pot. I think this is all doable.

I was telling my daughter just the other night, that I used to be able to get things done so quickly 30 years ago, but now, it takes me longer to do everything!  But, it's the way that it is meant to be, that's the joy of getting older, we are able to slow down and take our time at things  When my children were young, I was too, I could keep up with them and my housework! But, I am on my own time for now, until my husband retires that is - so, I will try to keep part of my New Year "Reflections" and just do the best I can.

I did manage to make a weekly menu, I will have three of my grandchildren Thursday night to Saturday afternoon, so I have to make things that they like - that's the joy of being a grandma!

Monday - Swiss steak, acorn squash, homemade rolls
(recipes for rolls and Swiss steak coming soon)
Tuesday - Pizza, green salad
Wednesday - Minestrone soup, french bread
Thursday - Sloppy Joes, raw veggies, chips, ice cream
Friday - Chicken roll-ups, green beans, Jello salad
Saturday - Honey-lime chicken enchiladas, green salad
Sunday - Roast beef, garlic mashed potatoes, carrots,
               peach cobbler

Have a good Monday!

Blessings, Barb

I wish I were as planned out as you. But you did inspire me. I have made a list to do today. My problem is I am so far behind and I just want to get caught up. I love your menu. I usually make a 2 week menu and I am going to go do it now. You are wonderful. Love you. Karen

I always have a list too. But I get over ambitious and it like 4 pages long so I basically set myself up for failure. Regardless, the things that I should get done seem to pile up. So I know how you feel!

Or..... March to the beat of our own drum.

Especially the part about, realizing that when we get older, everything takes longer. Don't apologize for it, or fight it. Enjoy it. :-)

I'm much older than you are, so I'm way farther along that road than you. But you are wise to know it, early on.

Happy Spring!
