Alone At Last . . .

It seems like I never get to spend time alone with my husband, so today we decided that we would forget about everything that needed to get done around the house and go for a day trip.  It was an absolutely beautiful day, the sun was shining, the roads were clear and we needed to get away.

We decided to to to Alpine, Wyoming,  to look at the elk herd that winters there.  We were amazed at how few were there compared to other years - we have not had much of a snow pack, so they were probably still up high in the mountains.  Then we drove over toward Driggs and Tetonia on the West side of the Grand Tetons.   We are so lucky to live so close to such beauty.

This is a close up of the back side of the Grand Tetons - I can see why they call them "Grand"!

This is just a different view - they are truly magnificent!  You can see that there really isn't a lot of snow for January!

It's so nice to get away, every couple needs to just escape once and a while, it was truly, in every way, a breath of fresh air.  And I did get my 2 minutes of eye-to-eye communication in - I'm not sure if he did though!

I always think of the words to one of my favorite songs when I witness the beautiful Rocky Mountains, I know that they are one of God's most wondrous works of art!

 How Great Thou Art

O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder,
Consider all the worlds Thy Hands have made;
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

When through the woods, and forest glades I wander,
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees.
When I look down, from lofty mountain grandeur
And see the brook, and feel the gentle breeze.

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

And when I think, that God, His Son not sparing;
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the Cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin.

When Christ shall come, with shout of acclamation,
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart.
Then I shall bow, in humble adoration,
And then proclaim: "My God, how great Thou art!"

Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art.
Then sings my soul, My Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, How great Thou art!

Blessings,

Thank you! Lovely photos. Glad you had a great drive and day away. I've only seen been over that way once in the winter. I think I was closer to Jackson Hole where the elk were being fed hay.

"How Great Thou Art" is my all time favorite hymn. It always makes me cry, though.

There is almost no snow. Very. Very. Scary. The Seven Devils look about the same as the Tetons for snow pack. If you look at the highway cam pictures, there isn't much snow on Lolo Pass, either.

Also, love your new blog look! So spring-like.

You never get alone time because you are babysitting my kids, sorry Mom! Thank you for watching them though, it was a nice night out for 2 hours without worying about Caleb spilling his drink or running away from us in the restraunt. Those are really pretty pictures, I am jealous!

Again, I'm enjoying perusing your blog. I can't wait to get back to the Tetons if only for a week!
