Counting my Blessings. . . . . .

I have a tendency to get a little melancholy right before Christmas, I don't know if it is because of the stress or just a little downward spiral from all the "fru fru".  As I was being very grumpy today, I truly had to practically shake myself and remember how extremely blessed I am.  Christmas is three days away - it's the day when we get the chance to celebrate the birth of the Savior!  I get to celebrate with my family and feel their love in my life!  I get to see the gleam in my husband's eye as he gives me his surprise gift, the one that I don't know what it is (not like he does not do that on a daily basis).  I get to see the look of surprise when my grandchildren open their gifts - no matter what they get from us, they love it.  Last year, I made pajama bottoms for my grandchildren and Christians were too small - not only were they too small around, they were too short - like 4 inches too short!  He ran in and put them on anyway and told me how much he loved them!  They do love me after all!

I'm almost done with all the last minute preparations.  We are having a Christmas Eve breakfast this year - instead of our usual Christmas Eve dinner.  Pancakes, bacon, scrambled eggs and a variety of yummy syrups along with eggnog, hot chocolate and orange juice.  So, I will be busy tomorrow making buttermilk syrup and getting my house ready for company.  My mother-in-law told me that she would love homemade bread for Christmas, so I am making her my soaked, whole wheat bread, it is really delicious with butter and honey.

I hope that everyone is counting their blessings tonight - thankful for all that the Lord has blessed them with.  I will probably not get to post until after Christmas, so Merry Christmas to all who read my blog, and may God bless you with His choicest blessings this Christmas and always.

One of my favorite songs from, "White Christmas" - enjoy!

You Mom are one of our biggest blessings!!!!! You always have some good insight to share! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this scene!! Who needs a bunch of gifts, we have so much that Heavenly Father gives us daily. Our main gift I think would be our gift to him, to do his will and remember his son daily! I love this time of year of reflection and renewal of spirit and determination.

I agree! You are one of your families biggest gifts and I can tell of all those around you. Isn't is grand to have children who want to be and do good and remember HIM daily and Thank Him for ALL we have been blessed with. My cup runneth over with gratitude also for ours.

I hope the gleam is huge in your husband's eye this Christmas as he gives you his surprise gift...no matter what the surprise gift is. :) Last year mine was a salad spinner!!! :-) It was awesome:-)

Merry Christmas my new friend. We are heading to I.F. some time this week end. Will you please warm Idaho up a bit before we arrive?

Again many blessings this Christmas:)
